I want to make one of your Clown rides, but I'll miss this one because I'm doing the Melon Patch Tour in Deleon this Saturday.

You guys have fun.

I have been riding recumbents for about 5 months now. Started on a bike e and bought a Bacchetta 26 about a month ago. I usually  ride 4 to 5 days a week and usually about 50 to 60 miles a week. I heard about the clown ride from a co-worker and have been working all summer. I would like to join the group for a saturday ride and this saturday could be that day.

Barbec's for breakfast, of course!   Smiley   I'll make it a point to meet with the Saturday group with the sample jerseys...

I'm planning on being there Saturday for breakfast and try on the jersey's, also ride afterwards.  Do yall park somewhere else and ride to Barbec's or meet at Barbec's, unload after breakfast and ride from there, or what?  How long would it take to park at the Valley View lot and ride in from there?  I'm assuming I can't really get lost coming that way, not having done it before.

Depending on your speed it is about 45 minutes to an hour.  It is hard to get lost but not impossible.  After going thru the light you make a left onto the lake trail.
Go thru 5 gates, after the fifth gate there will be one on the left going up a hill. Barbec's is at the top of the hill.

Warning at this time of the day, there will be what seem like a thousand runners and walkers on the lake trail.

I am planning to depart the Valley View Parking lot at about 6:20 a.m.
The first lot fills up fast so lets park in the second (bigger) lot.
Sunrise is at 6:45 but it is just light enough to ride.  You will need at least a tail light.

If you want to just drive to Barbec's, the address is: 8949 Garland Road Dallas, TX 75218. We can show you where to park your vehicle at the Lake, after breakfast. I, personally, plan to come up the Trail, meet John S., and get in some extra miles with him, before breakfast. After making a number of Lake laps, some of us will ride up the Trail to see John off, and then return to the Lake.

Where is the Valley View parking lot y'all are talking about? Maybe I should just ride over from the airport. How did you route us from the airport last time, Paul?

The Valley View lot is at the top of the WRTrail, go north on Hillcrest from 635 about 100 yards and turn right on Valley View.  The larger parking lot is about 100 yards from Hillcrest.

From the airport, hmmm...  It probably makes the most sense to ride directly across Royal Lane from near the 114 Shell station, all the way across to 75, then go a bit further east and hook into the WR Trail just before you get to Greenville Ave.  It's three lanes on each side, and traffic is fairly light, especially that early in the day.    http://ridewithgps.com/routes/145869    Going back home, the regular Airport Ride route takes Northaven all the way over to Denton Tap.

It may actually may make sense for me to drive out to the airport, meet you there, and ride back and forth with you...  It's probably 25 miles from DFW to Barbec's... what time were you thinking of leaving from the Airport?

I posted that before I saw that you were going to be at the Shell stations. Meeting you at that second one probably makes more sense, although I have no idea where it is.
