I rode it a couple of years ago and think it is very comparable to the gravel sections of the Trinity Trail. We were on mountain bikes but saw 4 other people on recumbents that day. No one appeared to have any difficulties. Only one time did I find any loose, soft gravel and that was over at the edge of the trail. The surface was generally hard packed and easy to ride.

Thanks guys,  rode about 17.5 miles of it today and the after 16 miles it is pretty worthless because of the deeper sand patches.
 
On the way into Garner I didn't realize I was going downhill and coming back it was a long slow climb 2-4% grade boring and SLOW for me.  For some reason I was under the impression that Mineral Wells was higher than the start, but I was wrong.
 

Oh, I still had a blast until I realized how much lower 17.5 miles into the trail is than the start.

I started in Weatherford and you go up for 4 miles then down into Garner, but coming back was the suck.
