WRL Brunch Excusion to Rowlett, Sat July 10
Jul 6th, 2010, 11:04am

I'd like to organize a ride for this coming Saturday morning, that involves riding from WRL out to our place in Rowlett for brunch...   I realize that Saturday morning all the runners are out,  but I think we can go CCW around the lake against traffic without too much problem...

I'd like to meet at a parking lot near Barbec's, for a 7:45 rollout.  We would do one partial lap around WRL, then cut off at the south end, to ride out to Rowlett, going through Little Forest Hills, across John West, then up La Prada to Duck Creek /Rowlett Rd.  It's essentially 15 miles out to my house...   There is some climbing involved, so plan on getting your exercise -- but we'll go "no drop" or at least split into two with regrouping along the way.  THIS IS A CASUAL RIDE PACE...

Once we get to our house (around 9:30ish), we'll have brunch... we'll have a sausage casserole, pancakes, muffins, coffee, juice, etc...  Then at around 10:30-11AM, we'll head back to WRL along the same route -- it's a friendlier ride, climbing-wise, in that direction!!!

Overall, we should get back to the start around 12:00-12:30, with around 40 miles total.

Please indicate if you plan to join this event, so we can start planning brunch stuff and quantities....  and we'll figure out the best place to meet at WRL.

Enjoy,
Paul

How could I miss this?  I'm in!!!

Paul - let me know if you are planning on riding to the lake that morning and back that afternoon (in addition to the planned ride) and I'll probably join you.  I figure you will probably be busy getting things together so no worries if you aren't.  Otherwise, I'll probably hit a couple laps before the ride starts if anyone else is interested, let me know.

I'm actually thinking of exactly that, departing from the house at about 6:30AM...

There's scattered showers in the forecast, but we'll go under the assumption that the weather will be good, for now.

Unfortunately I have BoD training for my church that morning (and most of the afternoon too) so I won't be able to make it. Angry Smiley

Here's the map, starting from the south end of WRL...

http://ridewithgps.com/routes/114628

For a starting point, let's just meet at the point where the road from Barbec's meets the WRL path -- park wherever you want to around there, but we'll leave from this location...  I believe it's "Emerald isle drive"
