RBENT Ride this Sunday, June 20

I threw this up as a poll so I could get a head count on how many are coming to lunch.

START: 8 a.m. from the parking lot in front of the Tom Thumb/Chipotle on the corner of Hulen Drive and Bellaire Drive South in Fort Worth. The idea is to ride 3-4 hours of on-bike socializing and then have lunch at the Red, Hot N Blue Memphis BBQ for off the bike socializing You can use this address to map to: 3000 S. Hulen St. #110

Everyone needs to bring a dollar or a park pass to get through Benbrook lake park.

Routes:

Long Route - we'll play it by ear, but I figure we can have 50-60 miles. Some will be trail, some lightly traveled road with just one short mile stretch with no shoulder but I can shorten that to 1/4 mile if you guys don't mind adding one hill. I figure we'll do a lot of chatting and probably end up with a 15-17mph average, so if that's doable for you, come have some fun with us on the long route! NO DROPS though we may throuw in a couple sprints or a drag race. I've also got a great 4.5 mile loop we could do a TT on.

Short route: Will be all Multi-use trail or park roads that are very lightly traveled by (so far) respectful drivers. There is lots of bathroom access and a store halfway. The route that I have mapped out is 31 miles, but you can turn around at any point you like. The climbing is light and the pace will be easy - 10-12 mph average and again, no drops. If you choose to turn around, there is lots to see in Benbrook lake park - splash in the water or watch the remote controlled airplanes that ahve their own airstrip in the park. I have the route as a gps file if you'd like it:

And if you want to do a couple extra miles, you can see the Big Cow - seriously - it's like 15 ft tall!

We'll meet back up for lunch, and a good time will be had by all - come on out!
