Rode only 19 miles at WRL this afternoon, due to an unfortunate event. As I was entering the Park, happened to run across Key Largo towing his Catrike 700 on a trailer behind his car. Grabbed some lunch with him and then we started riding on the path. As Key was making the 90 degree turn at the East end of the bridge over the North end of the Lake, he had to swing wide around a pedestrian and ended up turning over his trike and slamming it into a metal grill in a stone wall. His trike is toast - there is a long, 3 mm wide crack in the heat-affected zone at the toe of the boom-to-cross member weld. As I was helping him stow the fairing mounting system that was knocked loose in the crash, a 10-year old boy on a mountain bike crashed into the same wall that Key hit. He got a handlebar jambed into his stomach. That's a dangerous turn. A roadie broke his arm there last year. It's a shame about Key's ride. He's a dedicated trike rider without a backup. Might be a while before he's back riding again.
