First thanks for picking up that oregon in austin and setting it up all nice Nelson
I do like it and after being up till 3 last night and then spending all day making balloon animals for the animal shelter open house I should have an easy time talking my wife into getting it.
So thinking of letting people test ride your bike.. Think again
It was a pretty nice test ride. If I recall correctly I thought the power side pulley seemed slightly not straight but didn't think much of it. Took it out on the wednesday evening ride which wasn't too well attended and not exactly an a b or even c group but I had an overly easy time of blowing past everyone at well over 20mph and even up some pretty decent hills. Put in about 32 miles and only skipped one overly hilly section because I have to take it easy but the oregon was flyin'.
After the ride my wife went for a jog so I was just riding around a little with her. Stopped in a golf cart crossing and a bunch of folks stopped to wave me through while they were on a 35mph road. What? They don't have a stop sign and were stupidly holding up traffic ugh. Oh well I stepped on it and all I heard was something whiz across the ground and the chain fall off.
Sheered off the flange of the vbelt pulley. Note the pulley should be about 3/8" or so from the frame not on it.
The bolt from the oregon is on the right. A cheap hardware store replacement I picked up because I didn't want to used a graded bolt is on the left. The one on the left lasted maybe 100 ft? The middle one is a grade 5 I think and I took it for a brief ride last night and it worked well.
Also working well last night was a non-euro mesh seat.
Planning on getting a terracyle 23 tooth idler someone reports is working well on their oregon along with some rans b-41 bars to get a couple more inches in between the handles and another challenge E XL seat. Too bad the hurricane can't take the rans lock or I could maybe share the seat between the two.
Anyone have a b-41 laying around unused?
