Barcroft Oregon
Apr 19th, 2010, 11:49am

Well going to pass on the Oregon to someone else, if any local folks are interested let me know.  Its a great bike, very close to my ideal, but not quite there, and I think better suited for someone with a bit more inseam than me.  As always my short legs cause issues, this time not with the seat height (which is ideal!)  but the fact that the FWD requires a pretty good Q-factor and the angle is exacerbated by my short legs, someone with longer legs would not likely see the same issue as me.  Currently it is set up as a do it all bike, with fenders, rear rack, wider tires (which are very comfortable for rando, chip seal, etc) and dual disc brakes.  Putting the original 451 wheelset back on there will require losing the front disc brake and putting back on the Paul V-brakes, and removing the fenders.  I plan to sell it with both wheelsets and the brake parts.  I much prefer the 406 wheelset with dual disc brakes.  I plan on keeping the generator hub, and light unless someone is really interested and makes an offer.

I'm thinking for the current setup, with the extra 451 wheelset, and brake parts @$1850, and $1600 for the stripped/lightweight setup with just one wheelset (406 or 451).  Pictures will be added soon, and will eventually post it up on bentrider online.

For now here is a picture of its current configuration:

Thanks,
Nelson.

Can I give it a go? I'll probably know by sitting on it in two seconds if it'll work with the pulley there.

Sure thing Mark!  I'm planning on removing the generator and light, and doing some general cleanup this evening.  I'm hoping to test ride Ray's Aero a bit here shortly, so I may even be able to arrange a drop off.  I have to get clearance with Ray for that though.  I have the original (too long for me stem) I will get that out as well if you need it, its a quick change.

Take Care,
Nelson.

Well if it is ok with Ray and all. He has my number and you might too. I can ditch this <censored> for a test ride/pickup almost whenever. I actually have the car today instead of the burgy and he is on the way home.
I can already see MarkL shaking his head at this after he was telling me about his all baron forever and ever stable. But the oregon is like a unsuspended fwd hurricane so maybe I'll escape  Wink  The cruzbike might be becoming a tilting delta.

Did you want me to do some stripping, or do you want me to leave the rack, fenders (the rear fender is coroplast attached to the rack), etc on there? Also I was planning on transferring the pedals to my Corsa.  I'd better call Ray to see if he's still amenable to letting me test ride the Aero!

Take Care,
Nelson.

Don't do too much stripping I might not even be able to fit it in some way. I'd say strip what you really want to keep and wouldn't be parting with. I have pedals to throw on there.
I don't think I'd want the 451 stuffage.
