How to upload/include photos in your post
Dec 28th, 2009, 9:25am

To be able to show photos in your post, the picture(s) first must be uploaded to a publicly shared photo website that you have a membership on, then you put the right link from that site into your post.

For example, let's say you go to www.photobucket.com (or fotki.com, or others)...  and create an account.  Let's say you have uploaded THIS photo

When you upload a photo to Photobucket, they list four different link types with the photo, for different linking purposes --
      a) for Email or IM,
      b) "Direct Link",
      c) HTML Code, and
      d) IMG Code.

The "IMG Code" link is what works on this RBENT board to show the photo.    If I put all four of these links into THIS email, you see what happens -- the first three just show up as links, and the fourth (the IMG Code) shows up as the photo, below:

Email or IM:  http://s977.photobucket.com/albums/ae256/pbrown8js/?action=view&current=101_ 2649.jpg

Direct Link:  http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae256/pbrown8js/101_2649.jpg

HTML Code:  <a href="http://s977.photobucket.com/albums/ae256/pbrown8js/?action=view&current=101_ 2649.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae256/pbrown8js/101_2649.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

and then the IMG Code -- TAAA DAAAAA!!!

Yeah, right...  DJ, this is what you have to look forward to. If you ever end up completely wiped out on one of these long rides, Peggy will giggle at you.

No ,I took that picture. There are  more of a poor suffering Bud on that day that will not be shared. This picture was taken at the Maypearl control, for the Rio Vista Rumble permanent. It was a 100 degree day, & to Bud's defense, he had ridden a flat for about 5 miles without knowing it about 30 miles before this control.

Yes, his knees are drenched ,with the rest of him. Of course, you see what kind of respect we gave him, Peggy's laughing at him & I turned into a paparazzi.

Now that we've completely hijacked Paul's photo posting thread...

As bad as that photo looks, that was still over 30 miles from the finish, and things got worse before it was over. Nelson can testify to that. He fell back and stayed with me as I struggled. My report on the ride was here.

Alright, so when I do what I just did all that appears is a link that when I click on it give me not the picture that I wanted, but a whole album of pictures. Can someone give me a little tech advice here on how to post just one picture from photo bucket? I'm searching the list of emoticons for the kind of stupid I'm feeling right now.....none of them fit!

From your library of photos in Photobucket click on the photo you want to post, then click on "IMG" in "Links to share this photo". Go to the "Message" window in your draft RBENT post and paste the copied photo address into the window. Click on "Preview" to view the draft post w/photo.

That's it, exactly, Reever...  photobucket is nice in that all you have to do is click on that link, and it does the "CTRL-C" thing FOR you...  it puts it to your clipboard, and all you have to do is paste.  If you're not sure if the photo will show, click the "Preview" button and see what it shows you, before clicking "Post"

My name is Michael. I've been riding recumbents since 1999 when I got my first... a RANS Rocket.

I'm currently riding a Cruzbike Silvio 2.0. It's amazing to ride. And finally, a recumbent that can climb!!!

And yes, it's FWD.

Welcome to the Forum, Michael. I, too, own a Silvio 2.0. Only 330 miles on it, so I have a lot more learning ahead of me.

If you need some miles on the Silvio I'd be happy to pick it up, garage it and let it see the west side of the metroplex.

Hey, maybe that would work, if you left your 700 in my garage where the Silvio is currently sitting. It might enjoy rolling on the scenic WRL path with some 700 buddies. Smiley

Since Photobucket is holding all my photos for ransom, decided to try Flickr. The only photo share option on that site for a forum, like RBENT, appears to be "BB Code". I used IMG tags on the code, but that doesn't work. Anybody on the Forum using Flickr to post photos?

I'm not familiar with Flickr. If you can't figure out how to share photos with it, try IMGUR. That's what I use. Works great and is free.

Click on the photo you have uploaded to Imgur, and you will be presented with a menu to the right of the photo. Click on "Copy" associated with "BB Code (message boards & forums)", then do a paste into the RBENT post you are drafting. Prior to posting, click on the "Preview" button below the text window to view the photo. You can add text both above and below the photo. The best photo size for posting is about 480x640.

Just tried an IMGUR link... the "BB Code" doesn't work, but the "Linked BB Code" version does - be sure to first select "Medium Thumbnail" or "Large Thumbnail" before copying the link - this is "Large"

IMGUR BBCode works if you change the "https" to "http".
