I was going to get an expidition to put my free radical on but I might be able to commute alot more in the velo mobile and it does look so much cooler.
*sigh*
Oh well I wonder if it'll be around in a few weeks when I know if I'll be around or not after the latest reorg. Maybe I can put it on layaway..
One thing I did notice is the kit to put a new one together is the same price although it isn't right down the street for me and it doesn't come with a nice electric assist kit.  Layaway?

You don't want a velomobile unless you're only planning on riding it in sub 60* days.  I've ridden in two of them and inside of a mile I was cooked like a goose on a cloudy day and 65*.  They're also hideously loud.  Sure are cool to look at, though!

I can't imagine how loud a metal body one would be!  Like a living inside a drum I'd think!

I was thinking of it as a winter or bad weather bike. I was initially intrigued by the electric assist and how it is tied into the cranks but with the huge weight of the bike and my commute it probably won't help much if at all. The owner says it is very loud on rough roads which is most of my commute.

Probably get more use out of the expedition and the xtracycle kit but maybe not at the terracycle price. oy $1000+ is a little much but only because I already have the regular bike kit.

It does look really cool though if I had $4,000 in pocket change I might just go for it. Of course for not much more I could get this

I loved the fairing I had on my Tour Easy, but even it was pretty loud.

I love that one EV pretty cool looking.  Say how are the Burgman's working out?

Burgy's are working really well and although not as enjoyable or healthy as riding the hurricane in it keeps me out of the car for commuting. Well except that one day I had to bring a box with a few thousands sheets of paper to the post office to be overnighted at work and the pending rain kept me from wanting to strap it onto the back seat in a bag or some such.

Hopefully they'll be coming out with a nice bike rack that fits it soon so I could bring a lightweight bike to a ride whenever it is I get one. Well I guess technically my Ti Road bike would count but well you know.

I emailed the guy to take a look at it and he isn't even showing it until the 22nd!!!  I know where there's an Aurora with a BionX for $5200 but you'd have to have it shipped.  And of course it's a delta...

Well, the Aurora got sold to a guy in Portland on Monday.  I am going to look at the Alleweder on Sunday.  I recognized the velo from YouTube and contacted the original owner.  He was nice enough to let me in on the skinny regarding it's past and let me know what to look for.  He was really curious to keep up with it's new owner too, which will hopefully be me.  My wife is throwing a fit but I hate riding in the rain and I'm tired of not being able to ride when it does.  Not riding for almost two weeks and then riding 80 miles is why I injured my ankle.  I did have to agree to sell all the other bikes except the Saber.  You can pry that out of my cold dead hands!  So, if I do bring home the AAW, the Vision R44 and Actionbent will be for sale, cheap.  Y'all keep your fingers crossed...

Well, I owe my soul to the company store, but I do have a shiny velo in my garage.  I start using it for my commute tomorrow.  The electric assist is REALLY cool, and I don't think it's really all that loud, but of course I worked on jets in the military, so maybe my opinion there doesn't count.  It's going to need a little work on the top and the alignment but soon enough, I should be ready for the rain.

Dan, does the Alleweder you bought happen to be one of those we saw at the HPV show in Austin last Spring?

Thanks John.  Jay, David brought both of those Alleweders from Midland and they were FAWs.  Those didn't have enough room for my legs between the fenders.  This one is an AAW (there is also a WAW model).  It has full suspension and a 26" rear wheel.  I recognized this one from YouTube as having belonged to a guy named Fred in Florida (he goes by "fred dot u" on BROL and "freddotu" on YouTube).  I emailed him to get details on it and he told me it was actually wrecked, which the current owner didn't even know.  Fred put almost 10,000 miles on it, then sold it to an engineer in Indiana that repaired it and did some nice work on the electrical and battery systems.  That guy sold it to Mike in Alabama who travels back and forth to Arlington where he advertised it.  So now she's back home in Texas where she started.  I'll try to get her down to the lake sometime so everyone can take a spin.  It's definitely different.
