H1N1 Vaccine
Oct 10th, 2009, 10:20am

Let me encourage everyone to get the vaccine just as soon as you possible can.  As having generated my antibodies the hard way this week, this is not one you want to fool around with. I had 5 days of fever ranging up to 104 or so.  I get winded just walking around the house at the moment.  I've had pretty good bouts with Flu before, and I knew within a day this had to be H1N1 it was that much worse.  Everything ached, even my skin!  I made it in to the doctor Thursday and had it confirmed.  He said only about 10% of the people who thought they had it actually did, but he could tell before even running the test from the way they looked, he said he knew I was positive the instant he saw me. Great!  I told Beck I felt like I'd been in a sack for days with guys beating it with baseball bats.

On a side note being sequestered at home and bored I noticed a big report (on CSPAN!) has just been made by the Transportation Secretary about just how dangerous cell phones and really all personel electronic devices are, and I expect its laying the ground work for some new laws. It found that while cell phones are horrible, increasing accidents by 9 times, texting managed to be 23 times worse.  I think a scientific survey that shows something increases accidents by not 23% but 2300% might get some legislation passed.

Take Care,
Nelson.

Nelson good that you are feeling better sorry to hear that you had to go through so many days under the weather.
Sad that I need you to get the swine flu to get more miles on the road in the month  Smiley I know alot of companies are paying big attention to H1N1 in addition to local governments. If I remember correctly New York (or NYC) was requiring the vaccine for employees. They are really stepping up the go home and get better if you are not feeling well or your kids aren't well at all without any adverse affects to your performance ratings. Of course being that I work in the department I do we are surely soon to be analyzing abuse patterns  Smiley

Re: Texting
Ford recently joined Verizon in supporting legislation to ban text messaging while driving. Course they both think using hands free devices to talk on the phone make it perfectly safe *shrug* It's something I guess  Smiley

Sorry to hear you're down, Nelson.  I hear that it takes 2 weeks to diagnose h1n1 though.  How was your doc able to confirm?
