Sandy Earl note
Sep 14th, 2009, 12:48pm

Got an email from Sandy Earl, who was with us last year at the TTTT, and was RANS crew chief this year.  She just completed the Ring of Fire race, out west.....

"My 171 mile result (14.25 mph, with just over 1000' of climbing per hour) was plenty good enough for the womens' overall in the 12-hour race. Bested Sara Kay's 2007 12-hour women's recumbent record.  Oh, yeah, details.. Carbent Sea Dragon. It was Dana's 2008 demo bike, I believe. "

WTG, Sandy!   Smiley

She's a formidable lass.  WTG!  She's only had the bent for a couple months, too.

So we have JS and Sandy at TTTT this year. Not sure whether to rejoice or what. Good thing we're not competing against them. I went out yesterday and rode the Toutant loop which has roughly 3000 feet of climbing in 30 miles with several 10+% grade climbs, plus I did an extra 20 miles of regular stuff, and I barely averaged over 19mph. Kicked my youknowhat. I think I'm in worse shape coming into this thing than I've been in 9 months. Positive thinking. Positive thinking.

Slow your roll and do some recovery.  You're not going to gain any fitness over the next week, so best to relax, let your body recover, and be chompin at the bit come that 6am start!

I know. Too late to do anything about it now. :^{ I just need to put some easy miles on a regular basis so I don't disintegrate. Good thing there aren't any steep grades on that course or I'd be in big trouble. I'm having to grind up the steeper grades I normally just roll over.

I'm really looking forward to visiting with all these interesting people though.

How's the foot doing?

good, I think.  Sore right now but should be right as rain (no pun intended) for the weekend.  I'd like to do a long ride, easy pace just to make sure the body is ready.

The Texas Time Trials. A few folks from rbent are going to race/ride in it and a few others are going down to volunteer to help execute the event or crew.  I think there may be a couple riding and volunteering too.
