Maybe Possibly seling my almost new RANS XStream
Aug 10th, 2009, 4:26am

Im thinking about selling my few month old XStream.  Ive been very happy  Smiley with my XStream accept for the seat, which Im too tall for.  I want to sell this one and use the money toward building a XStream with a large carbon seat.  It doesnt make sence for me to buy a new bike and swap out all the new parts.  So I would use the money toward another XStream

The following factory parts are new and will be swapped back onto the XStream:
  • Cranks/Pedals
  • Bottom Bracket
  • Rings
  • Chain

The rest of the bike is slightly used.
PLUS I added a head-rest which is nice on long rides.
The price is negotiable, FYI I have a little over $3,000.00 into this bike.
As an alternative might sell the factory parts

If you want to discuss this please call me (Terry) at 469-853-4015

Terry - why don't you just buy a larger carbon seat.  There are several different kinds on the market.

Example, check out this link:

RANS only sells one-size carbon seat.  Medium, with their bikes.  I will need to order a XStream with the mounting hardware only and purchase a third party Carbon Seat.

My Baron had an Extra Large Velokraft Carbon SHell Seat.  it was the extra light version at only 550 grams.  Because that is what the proprietor Dana had in stock, the regular weighted seat was not available.

My experience with Velokraft seat is that is was very narrow,  It took a little getting use too because you felt like you where tipping off of it.  The reason the RANS Hoagie  seat is so comfortable is that its wide.  So Im open to heavier wider carbon seats.

Jason this might be possible, gather the details about your V3 and give me a call 469-853-4015.  I would be able to roll the V3 while getting the new XStream together.

Ummm, that still doesn't answer the question of why you don't just buy a seat and seat bracket and install in on your present Xstream. Am I missing something here?

Terry, as I said in my earlier post, you can order the larger seat and install it.  It's real easy.

My bike came with the stock mesh seat, and I wanted to also use a carbon seat.  So I simply ordered one, then ordered with hardware from RANS (seat clamp and struts).  Now I can easily switch between seat in minutes.

I might just need to do that and just put a seat on my current bike, it might be the most economic thing to do.   BUT It doesnt make sence to me to purchase a stock unit and swap out all the factory parts, I should have purchased a frame kit.  At least I know what the bikes are all about for my build out.  Smiley  Plus I do like working on a project.    Smiley

...and other than the seat length issue, you're still happy with the way the overall length of the bike suits you?

Cool

It'll have to be the steel or titanium version, if you are going to do that right now.  They are currently out of stock on the Aluminum version, and Chas bought the last one...   Sad
