You live in one of the best places in the state to ride. Thousands of miles of lightly traveled roads. Where are the longest, thoughest climbs?
Are you coming to race in TTTT?
16 to Bandera, N on 173 to RR 480 to CenterPoint, 27 to Comfort, 1621 to Waring, Welfare-Waring to Nelson City (Po-Po's), under I10 & down the access road to Boerne, School Street in Boerne, Over I10 to UpperBalcones/Toutant Beauregarde, Scenic Loop to Helotes. 337 between Vanderpool and Camp Wood have the longest steep climbs most likely though there are a lot of roads all over that are a lot steeper but shorter. The stretch from Bandera to Comfort is a blast, I have done that stretch holding at least 30mph except for 3 hills that slowed me to 28 and two hills on 173 that dropped me to 26 once already.
Yes, Greg and I are planning on teaming up for TTTT. He just left to head back home after two days of riding with us. I think he likes our roads generally (except for the chipseal and the traffic on 16 and 27). Maybe I should have waited a couple of days for him to forget some of the climbs though. My favorite century is still Helotes to Hwy 290 via Welfare-Waring and Old No9 and back. Come on down and ride with me to found out why.:^)
