RANS rally, Labor Day Weekend
Jul 14th, 2009, 3:40pm

RANS Rally Schedule, Hays, Kansas, Labor Day Weekend

Still tentative,  and hasn't been posted on the RANS website. This rally has been talked about on the RANS crank forward forum since the middle of May...

This schedule is for Sept. 4-7.

Firday arrive, maybe an evening ice-cream ride, 15 miles. Early arrivals tour at 4:00PM
Saturday: Tour of the Churches ride 45 miles
Saturday PM: Tour of factory, test rides of all kinds of bikes
Saturday night: Free BBQ at my house poolside, games, drawing from $1600 Bike, tickets $20 go to RAAM fund
Sunday: Either take the Ellis or Victoria loop, each about 37 miles. Lunch either on your own on the road, or meet somewhere in Hays. Later we can ride to a local Micro Brewery for Dinner
Monday: Ride about Historic Hays, ending in a group lunch at a local cafe

Hays has a good selection of hotels .  The Hampton Inn has a good user ratings and is a new hotel located close to the RANS factory. Also they have a good breakfast included with the room.

I ride my bike to ride my bike, and sometimes it takes me where I need to go.

Hmmm, perhaps there's room for a little hot carpool action?

We need somebody to build a "Rocket Launcher" like the RANS team had...  <grin>

I am just about to book a room at the super 8.  I have already RSVPed to Kim.

So how long did it take you guys last time you made the trip?  I was thinking of heading out Thursday night, to avoid getting up at Dawn30.

It's essentially 550 miles, straight up I-35 through OKC...  Expect it to be 9 hours, slightly longer if you stop and eat somewhere.  You can avoid north Dallas and Denton traffic by going up to Sherman and taking 82 east over to I-35, with very little additional miles.  OKC traffic is a bit of a crapshoot, as well...

Yep I think that going Thursday night and staying somewhere north of OKC sounds like a better idea.  I am just getting my new fancy Draftmaster rack together so the bike doesn't stick out the sides.
