Dan ,Peggy & I rode this ride a few years ago. The route is "OK", but don't expect much from the Peach Fest itself. Long lines, & vendors out of peach everything. I think the farmers market a few block away from the peach fest had ample supply of peaches.

Thanks Steve.  I was just thinking about it, but looking around on the internet it looks like you pay $25/$30 to ride on 62 miles of chipseal.  I'll just find a local ride if nobody's going.  'Preciate it.

Dan,

Have you ever tried the Plano East Ride on Saturday mornings at 8:00 AM? A nice pace, aided by  smooth pavement. Mostly DF riders with a smattering of bent riders. From near PCF to Lavon Lake and back. Thirty-seven miles, total. Two rest stops.

I'm riding the Peach Pedal, but of course I live here and I'm finally getting used to the roads and hills here.

Dan,

You can go to www.bicycle-stuff.com and read reviews from prior years.  The site is belongs to Clown #1 and is very informative.

ps I might ride the East Side ride as 37 sounds about like my current capabilities.  I need to figure out if I should try it Saturday.

Thanks Tim.  I've been going to John's site for about a year now.  I actually came across the website before I bought a recumbent and was looking at upcoming rides and reviews even then.  I rode with the clowns for a few months while I was unemployed and will always be grateful to those guys for helping me get started on my 'bent, especially John, Jay, Tom, Ken and Jim.  Although I admit after Clown #2 I kind of get lost on the order.  Smiley And I apologize if I've revealed the secret identity of any clowns who would rather remain anonymous due to their association with certain other clowns. The plan is to do the Peach Pedal.  This is a warm-up for RAGBRAI and they're supposed to have food at the high school.  Hopefully it won't run out like downtown does. See you there.

I went last year and plan on going this year, the route if I recall was uneventful and I don't remember excessive chipseal. It's a decent Saturday ride and in my opinion the best reason to go is to see me ride Smiley

As Shellene and I were driving to today's LSR ride we followed a Chevy pickup truck with a pair of bents: a Corsa and a Strada who appeared to be heading towards the Peach Pedal.  Since we were in her Mazda our Corsas were hidden.  Who were we following?
