Both are good bikes.  If you want a totally custom fit and a bike that's several pounds lighter, go with the carbent.  If you want adjustability in the seat, get the bacchetta.  The carbent has a more closed hip angle due to a higher bottom bracket.

My recommendation though if you go with the carbent is to make darn sure you know exactly what seat angle and such you want FOR SURE.  Cause once it's built, it's set.  My further recommendation would be that if you're going to drop that wad of cash on the carbent, drop a little more and fly out to the SoCal Recumbent rally and ride with the bunches of recumbents (over a 100 last year) and Dana can take the time to put you on one and personally fit you perfectly.

Mine is custom in most every detail, including headtube drilling and componentry.

John, as Greg mentioned previously, both are great bikes(I haven't ridden a Carbent,so I can't speak to that bike specifically). I have ridden the CA 2.0 during the past month(I've logged approx.600-700 miles on the bike) & love the bike.

One of the selling points to me for the CA 2.0 would be re-sale potential. If for some reason you wanted to sell the bike after you were done riding it(weather a large or medium frame), you could easily do so(based on the bikes adjustability to the rider). A custom is just that, custom to that one rider.

You can look up the specs & compare the bikes(you don't need others to interpret that data). Go to the Bacchetta website(http://www.bacchettabikes.com/forum2/) & see what other cyclists are saying about the CA 2.0, don't take my word.

Ask John about the CA 2.0 while he's here.

If you're worried about reaching the ground, go with a large.
