MMMM I just could'nt pass it up.

Besides my wifey has shown recumbent interest and I will let her try both and choose. Since my dad has repainted his Nimbus and upgraded the wheels I just wanted to try a dual 26".

You know for the price I will suffer with the extra 4 pounds from the aluminum. I had a V2 Steel a long time ago and I really really liked that bike. Heck I need to lose prob 40lbs or so anyways. Whats that two Ti V3's LOL. I rode the Aluminum V3 at Plano and liked it but couldnt justify 3k for it when I like the Bacchetta 20 a little better and Ray had the deal on his. It seamed faster but I just fit better on the 20 I thought. Well the more I weaked out my Gyro the more I realized a good week with the V3 would prob work all that out. I have 220 miles on the Gyro and it has renewed my riding memories from the past. I cant believe what I have lost cardio wise over the last few years. I have been slacking since loosing my original 150 lbs of fat but now it is time to finish what I started.

EXCELLENT find, Sir... I test rode the steel V3, and it was a fine bike... The main reason the V3 at PCF is priced so high is that it's got the high-end components on it (carbon crankset, X0 shifters, etc.)

The only thing you may run into regarding your wife on the V3 is the leg reach to the ground, but it may not be a problem. You may also want to look into an angled riser from RANS, to replace that straight up riser, just to bring the handlebars a bit further back if that is an issue.

You know I think the one at PFC has the angled riser and the flater bars. Was part of the reason I wasnt as fond of it I think. It cramped me up. Even the guy I was looking at it with said he thought it had the wrong bars on it. It was a nice ride though and seemed to roll out nice. I am sure with sometime in the seat I can tune it out to be a perfect fit. MAy change the seat eventually and put an x9 der on the back but that would be it. MAy even break my lusting for the X-Stream for a while.

I wish you luck. I avoid BROL so I don't see the bike I still want but so many folks seem to be picking up the X-Stream around here it is going to keep haunting you. Smiley

I Love Steel and TI so I hope the V3 works out nicely for you. I personally don't like AL and even though I wanted one at one time I really am way too fearful of Carbon that I don't think I'll ever ride one.

My biggest problem with the setup on that bike is that the seat is too upright for a bottom bracket that high. That works for some people, but not me. It's just too closed a riding position.

But if you go to a Euro style seat like Angie's V3 has, that problem is solved, and it makes the V3 a faster bike, too. That's something to keep in mind. That style seat would instantly take the weight under 30 pounds, too. It will be interesting to see how you like the bike. At that price, you can't go wrong, though.

Nice write up. Whats funny is the euromesh on my Gyro came from a Rans and I turned down the adapter piece. Sighh . Anyways I will try it as is for a while . I figure with the extras its like half price. I guess I could sell my recurve and the Rans seat and get a nice carbon seat for it. If either me or the wifey dont like it I can swap it for a XP and I know she would dig that. I was actually looking for a dual 26 XP but you can not even get a V2 for 760.00.

Hey Jason - so the V3 is for the wifey (aka The Admiral), eh? Sell the Giro, you could probably make a small profit. Then treat yourself to an Xstream. I've been riding my Xstream one day, then the Ti Aero the next. The long wheelbase on the Aluminum Xstream is at least equally, if not, slightly more comfortable than the Ti Aero. It seems to dampen road vibration more than the mono-tube Ti Aero. Wow, I can't believe I said that....

So, come over to the other side. Get an Xstream. They are priced pretty darned good.

Side note: Angie is 5'2" (in high heels). The cranks on her Ti V3 are 175 (ouch). Spending $200 on shorter cranks would only yield about an inch. So I re-drilled holes the carbon seat to bring it forward almost two inches. Wa-la, it's a much better fit, and I was able to recline her seat a lot. Her riding improved considerably.

Actually the V3 is for me too I love the longer bikes. She is the one that encouraged me to hit 760.00 on the V3 auction. We figured I would be outbid and if I wasnt it was a good enough deal to not be mad about. After I won the bike she said and I quote" so can I have the yellow bike now". I said ahh hahh I new there was a reason behind the encouragement. I will just use a marker and set it up for both of us. Not like its that hard to pull two pins and slide the seat a little. I have the Gyro dialed in really well right now. Once I got used to the Euromesh I really like it. The more you lay back the better it feels. I am actually reclined back so far I am past the last pin holes and it is perfect.

Use Angie and I as the excuse to your wife. I originally bought the V3 for me, and thought Angie could ride it too. After one or two rides it became her bike. She absolutely loved it, and subsequently you became the owner of her Giro.

Now it's your turn to live the same dream

Give your wife the V3, buy an Xstream, and sell the Giro. Smiley

Then the person you sell the Giro to must follow suite, else they will be cursed.
