Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent
Mar 24th, 2009, 1:54pm

I plan on riding the Magical Mystery Tour 200k permanent on Saturday morning, March 28th, and would love some company. This ride starts at the Lynn Creek Marina parking lot at Joe Pool Lake, and requires that you be a RUSA member. Pm me for the starting time.

Bud, our favorite hill awaits just outside of Maypearl ,that short steep hill-18%+ ,the one with the dog sitting at the top ,just waiting for tired cyclists.  Smiley

Honestly, I had forgotten that this was the weekend for the Italy Brevets. No big deal.

I'm wanting to ride the 300 if the weather is ok, but weather.com shows winds at 29mph.  Wunderground at 18 Shocked

I'm not sure I'll want to ride if it's more than 20mph.  It was about 18mph this past Sunday when I rode, and that was enough.  I wouldn't mind the Italy 200k at that speed, since it's flat, but at much more than that and we get into a situation like we had when we rode to Dixie's and back, when Steve had that nasty flat.

We're up for a 200k, it really doesn't matter where we ride it from. It's going to be cooler on Sat. than normal.

Doesn't matter to me if we ride in Italy or Grand Prairie.  An educated guess is that Grand Prairie is much closer for both Bud and I. It takes me ~30 min. to get to Joe Pool.

Wow, that forecast does keep going downhill. Either route puts you going south first, which is good if it's cold with a north wind, but if it's really 39 degrees with a 20 mph north wind, I may not ride anywhere.

I could change the ride to Sunday, but it's supposed to be even colder Sunday morning. Something shorter with a later start might work.  Smiley

Oh c'mon Italy rocks! the corn should look nice this time of year  Smiley

As much as I love it it is too far for a 200k when I already have one this month. I'll probably try something early april to see if my knee is ok for a longer ride before becoming stranded on a 600k or something.

Plus I gotta pack up this weekend to move my cubie. They told me last thursday they are moving me March 30th. 36 file cabinet drawers to pack so probably 100+ boxes? wheeeeeeeeeee.

We don't need a 200K for March ,so if it's cold & windy ,I'm with you.

I'm not likely for anything this weekend, but leaning towards a 200K 4/4 for R12 insurance for April.  Sharon mentioned Spanish Fort on the LSR board, so I might tag along on that one.  If not I'll likely just ride one of my 200K's especially now that I can get mileage credit for repeats.

Take Care,
Nelson.

No reason to drop the permanent.  It's definitely closer for everyone involved. I'm going to email Coach Priott tonight, and if he wants me to do a fast 300, I'll do italy.  If he wants me to do hills, I'll get plenty with y'all on MM.

..if that's ok with the permanent host!

Greg, you might wanna re-think the 300k. From what I hear ,the new routes out of Italy(especially the 300K) are new routes & more importantly ,a lot more difficult(hilly) than previous 300k routes out of Italy(they head west to Gatesville, toward Ft.Hood).

Just wanted to let you know. I don't care about hills. I don't want to ride in the cold/wind.
