RBM Saturday Mornings - Good for beginners
Mar 23rd, 2009, 4:36pm

I rode the "Tour de donut" 20 mile ride at the RBM Saturday morning (http://bikemart.com/page.cfm?pageID=461).  This is a place for riders of all levels.  Each of the slower/less experienced groups had an RBM employee provide shepherding duties so no one would get lost or dropped.  I learned some valuable lessons about riding and communicating with the group.

By the way, of the roughly 200 riders there Saturday, I had the only bent.  Where are the rest of you?

Sounds like you had a good ride. I haven't gotten on my group ride for a few weeks now due to conflicts. I'll probably give it another go but with it being "cycling season" and more cyclist and more bending/breaking traffic laws as of late I might just go back to commuting and go on group rides when it gets cold again. Which means only the year round cyclists and we are on the down low so draw less attention in case we slip a little.

For me it was picking up boxes, packing boxes, fighting with fedex account to print labels with bar codes. Finally going to fedex and dropping off the boxes. That ate my entire Saturday. Sunday was cleaning and organizing. No bicycling all weekend Sad

I was rehearsing a church pageant and getting some work done for my job Smiley and I spent the entire afternoon shaving off my beard for the pageant. It took the better part of 4 hours to remove all that fur. Smiley

You mean there's a FACE under that???    Smiley

I ride my bike to ride my bike, and sometimes it takes me where I need to go.

Glad you found a ride that suits you, Sam!!!  Just get out there and mix it up with 'em on a regular basis....

Sounds like you had a great ride.  My wife did 20 miles with the FWBA over here on our side of the plex.   The "Sunday Stroll" at benbrook has a great patient leader and is a ncie easy ride for anyone who wants to come out this way.

Great to hear you hit the club rides.  I hope to see more bent presence out there this year!
