Another reason for two brakes
Mar 4th, 2009, 9:02am

Two completely seperate brakes that will both stop the bike on their own!

I had just turned left off of FM2499 onto Spinx and went to tap my brake and it just came off in my hand! Glad it happened today and not somewhere around mineral wells. Two zipties loosely through where the pivot was enough to be able to hold the brake lever on and make it useable.
Made it to work and into my special reserved spot with no further incident. I even decided to bring my pretty flag today.

Having more than one brake simply increases the odds that you will have brake failure....   Smiley

(Isn't that the theory used in aviation to justify / argue against multiple engines?)   Grin

Glad you didn't have to ditch!!!!   I have a spot on my commute that's a short (20 foot) downhill to a stop at a busy cross street -- I sometimes consciously think about the brake cable not letting go at that moment...    Smiley

Man I used to think I was cursed when it came to bicycles.  I'm so glad to see someone else toting that banner for a change!   Smiley

And the DUH moment of the day.

After mentioning to my wife I might go past Home Depot on the way home.
"Don't you remember I put those bolts we got at lowes in your cell phone holder"

One of them fit perfect in the pivot  Smiley
