March 7th Cleburn 200,300,400k?
Feb 17th, 2009, 1:50pm

Sooooooooo anyone planning on hitting Cleburn on March 7th for a 200, 300 or 400k? I only saw one reply over on LSR that indicated a recumbent might show.

I just sent the question into the LSR post on this but when I was looking up times I noticed
"In 2009, daylight time begins on March 8"
Which may in fact affect someone doing the 400k if they exceed 2am Sunday (I assume I would). Card time vrs DST (cell phones, GPS?)  and non DST times on watches, cyclocomputers, gas station wall clocks..  After riding for countless hours just one more bit of confusion perhaps..

Mark - I'm 80% "yes" for doing the 200k.  I'd like to get a March 200k out of the way before we depart for Hell Week the following Friday.  That way I won't feel the need to do a Brevet durinig Heel Week and can enjoy each day's ride.

If I can keep riding I'll be able to squeeze off a 400 I think, but I haven't made up my mind.

Well the weather was looking good.. I just checked a few sites and now it says wind and rain for Saturday now but hopefully it goes back to a nice day soon.
Cleburne (similar weather for Mineral Wells)
Accuweather
Saturday, Mar 7
High: 74 °F RealFeelŽ: 70 °F
Windy and remaining warm with times of clouds and sun
Saturday Night, Mar 7
Low: 54 °F RealFeelŽ: 49 °F

Watch for strong thunderstorms late; otherwise, windy with plenty of clouds
Sunday, Mar 8
High: 75 °F RealFeelŽ: 72 °F
Mostly cloudy and breezy with a shower or thunderstorm possible
Weather.com shows the Thunderstorms on Sunday
Accuweather shows late on Saturday 20% early on Sunday 40% Winds out of the South the entire ride.

I do hope it improves before then but hey it'll be an adventure right!

As much as I want to ride with you guys, I'm thinking on just doing the 300.   I don't think I could recover enough to be worth anything on Monday.  400ks and higher will have to wait till summer.

Ah Greg it's only 64 more mile, come on out and play. Then you would only need a 600 k for a series.(SUPER RANDONNEUR).

I actually downgraded to the 300k route; time constraints for Sunday morning (I actually have to be awake Sunday AM).
