Sunday GDB ride/commute
Nov 30th, 2008, 8:23pm

Through various circumstances, I didn't do any riding after Tuesday's East Texas jaunt, until today...  I decided to brave the morning chill (42) and the winds, and ride in to the GDB Sunday morning ride from Preston/Royal, where a whopping 15 people showed up (as opposed to the normal 35-45)...

I was heading in to a steadily increasing west wind for the 15 miles to the start point, but I must say the XStream is an excellent bike to ride into the wind...  Wink   The ride leader initially led us northwest, into the wind, intending to go out to Valley Ranch, then have tailwinds back, but changed his mind halfway there, leading us back south and west...  once we got out to I-35 and northwest highway, we started circling back and around through the Love Field area and into the neighborhoods, enjoying the fall colors that the trees are showing these days... then heading down to Oak Lawn and Turtle Creek areas, then up the Katy Trail path and back to the start.  Here are some pics...

I cut off towards the end, and arranged to meet Terrie for lunch at our favorite pizza joint near Snider Plaza, then rode home, going over to WRLake, east on Mockingbird and NWHwy, up Plano Road, and east on Miller all the way back, with that 25mph west (now) tailwind, pushing me along nicely...

Wound up getting my 24th "metric" in for the year so far, at 64 miles, with my BikeJournal goal being 26 for the year.   Smiley
