Thanksgiving solo jaunt
Nov 24th, 2008, 10:15am

Terrie and I and her kids are heading out on Tuesday to her sister's place at Lake Cypress Springs (Northeast of Winnsboro) for TGiving...   It's about 90 miles from here by car out I-30, so it occurred to me, why don't I try to ride out to there (and back?), and Terrie can drive with the bike rack on the car if riding back doesn't work out...

I asked George Evans and Shellene Foster (LSR) if they knew good routes for a solo rider to use, and George gave me this one that starts in Rockwall, which actually goes right past the entrance to the specific housing development at the lake, about 98 miles one way!

So, I'm going to head out about 9AM tomorrow, planning to arrive between 3 and 4, and Terrie is going to drive the route behind me, leaving around 1PM to probably catch me somewhere around Winnsboro... I think I'll use the StratusXP, to help soak up that probable boulder-seal along the way...

Riding back doesn't look promising, as they're forecasting rain for Thursday...  but at least I'll burn off some extra calories in anticipation of too much food...   Wink

That sounds like a cool ride, Paul. Forecast rains haven't amounted to much lately, so I wouldn't count out that return ride yet. Have fun, and I'll look forward to a report.

I hope you enjoy chip seal. The Wylie to Winnsboro LSR route is lousy with that stuff.  E.Texas has to be the worse for chip seal.
