Sundays Cupcake Populaire:This was a great ride with even better friends, lots of hills to play on Grin Beautiful country side views. It was so much fun watching Ray and JS go out with the fast group. Ray stayed with them for a long time. Then being the Rando friend that he is he dropped back to ride with us.We kept tabs on the lead group, their gap got bigger and bigger as the day went on. We keep the rbent rides together most of the day.Evblazer has gotten much stronger over the summer. Great ride Mark. This was not an easy century plus. I felt strong most of the day,but at one point I hit the wall.Steve and Ray set me up with the bike riders "crack" RC, ice cream, power bar, water with chaser of sport legs. That did the trick. I felt like I could fly, The last 30 miles went by fast with a strong  tail wind. Then I did get stung by a bee on the temp with only a mile or so to go. I'm fine but the bee didn't fare as well cry.
As for getting to ride with JS I did rode with him on Saturday.John was here to promote bents and to show off the new cb2.  We got to spend time with him over the weekend. JS is so good for recumbent of all kinds. A true ambassador of the sport.                       Mrs Strada

Yeah, those hills around Tom Bean and Howe can get a little steep. I used to go through Tom Bean on the way to Sherman a couple of times when they had the access roads on 75 torn up.

Bud I think the pics are password protected.

What pictures?  Steve sent some to Bud, and I forwarded a link to him of pictures that Brenda took, including a very good picture of the entire bent crew, all wearing our Bacchetta jerseys.

Hey Mark ,I got the perfect ride for dead legs-Ray Torrey's Spanish Fort 220K. It only has 6,000ft of climbing ,BUT no cornfields!

Spanish Fort is a must=do 200k.  I believe that Nelson and Greg are the only other bent riders who have ridden it.  The hills are stretched out over a longer distance, so relatively speaking, you have more recovery time.  Plus, IMHO, it's one of the most scenic Rando rides in the North Texas area.

We'll ride it either the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of November.

Steve's photos from Saturday are here.

I've added Brenda's recumbents photo shown below to that album. You can see Brenda's other photos from the weekend here.

hmm. Let me modify that statement. My recumbent legs are dead but my road bike legs are doing great.

When he says the hills are stretched out over a longer distance, he means there's more of them than any ride you've ever been on, and they're twice as long.  Don't let this guy sucker you in, ladies and gentlemen!  It's a beast - but absolutely fun fun fun, and cover part of the Muenster rally as well.

I'm in so long as you don't schedule it over the time I'll be in Paris - the 15th or the 22nd would be perfect I think.

I think everybody is looking good for the 22nd right now for Spanish Fort.  THat is the day I plan to do it, only problem is it conflicts with the Willow Park brevets.  If Ray is amenable I'd say we could go ahead and plan this one for Nov 22nd, say 8am?

There is a 400K the next weekend in Willow Park.  A very hilly one at that, but I kept to my 5hr/100K schedule, and did it at just under 20hrs so its not bent unfriendly.  I may float a trial ballon with Becky, but 2 weekends in a row may be too much.

Take Care,
Nelson.

ooh, I forgot about the brevet.  I'll try and get my permanent done on the 8th, and that way I can "afford" to let the brevet slide.
