Great write-up Markie-Mark
yes, I was on Angie's Rans V3
I wanted to get get in at least 100 miles today, so since Angie I have to be in Little Elm at 6pm, I left my house for this ride at 'o-dark-thirty'. I arrived at the school in Argyle without about 20 minutes to spare, thus a little recovery. I started in the middle of the pack. Within the first mile, I decided to hammer (even though I'd been riding for several hours); I got the lead group, and eventually the lead out vehicle. At the base of "Hill Top", the casette started slipping and wouldn't engage. It didn't take long for the lead pack to pass me, then shortly after that Mark came by. He got to hear the bike to cling, cling, cling, and hear me cuss as he passed me. I stopped at the top and luckily somebody came by and was able to tighten the rings. Off I went trying to catch whoever I could.
The V3 is definately a fast bike, and I like it a lot. Even with an early mechanically that slowed me to a crawl up Hill Top, I got in 70 miles with a 19.2 avg. Like Mark said, I would have averaged close to 21 mph if it wasn't for a strong south wind that I had to ride directly into for the last 20 miles. I rode to my ability today, and left nothing to spare.
Came home, took a long bath, and about to take an uncharacteristic nap for a few hours before we have to go to the party in Little Elm...
