TTTT Training at HCTT
Sep 6th, 2008, 5:27pm

"Mixed Bag Of Nutz" trained for the Tejas 500 today on the HCTT course.  Peggy, Steve and myself.  Nelson unfortunetly had multiple family issues and could not join us.  We rode the first lap, past the turnaround, almost to Denton (approx 20 miles round trip).  Not too hard, averaging around 19mph.

Our 2nd run was at race pace.  The cross wind started picking up on the return leg.  Steve finished a few bike lengths ahead of me, and we averaged 22.1 mph.  Peggy came in less than a minute behind.  I'm proud to be part of this team.  Peggy and Steve are strong riders!

We rode a 3rd time, at a recovery (ha ha ha) pace.  Wow, the new ashphalt was great to ride on.  We had a great time, but really missed our friend and teammate Nelson!

Yeah, when you have multiple families, it does take up some extra time... especially if they don't know about each other!!!   Grin

With peggy on board, shouldn't the team really be "mixed bag of nuts AND RAISINS?"

...or perhaps team "Nice Hubs"   Grin

Sorry I couldn't be there,  Really missed you, got in a short ride Saturday, and just finished the short Richardson Corporate Challenge race this morning.  Sarah got to go and be a cheerleader.  Anyway we improved as a team so hopefully that will help us win again, results should be in later this afternoon.   I'll be riding to work as much as possible next week, but may be having to do some lunch time riding at the crit course. Let me know if there is a chance for getting together this week Ray, Steve, and Peggy.  Afterwork might be possible one day, depending on my band car pool duties.

Take Care,
Nelson.

I'm suppose to meet Joe at the crit course at 6pm Tuesday to pick up a new pair of custom Rando wheels he built.  Joey is racing (probably pro division?)  I have no idea where it is, so is there anywhere around there we could ride?

Nelson, give me a call during the day tomorrow.  I had a great weekend with Peggy and Steve.

TTTT Training at HCTT Results

I just uploaded my Garmin stats from both yesterday and today's training:

HCTT / TTTT (race pace lap only)
12:06 miles
32:45 (time)
34.4 max
22.1 avg. speed
402 feet of climbing (slightly less feet per mile than Cleburne TTTT course)

Today's Flower Mound TTTT Training
Jeff (a good friend, and very fast tri sponsored athlete), Mark Hasting, Mark Leuck, Steve, Peggy and I left Flower Mound for TTTT training today. Mark L. rode the first 15 miles with us.  After we finished, Angie rode a 10 mile recovery ride with Peggy, Steve and I.

overall we rode approx 50 miles.  Below is a 15 mile stretch after the turnaround in Ponder, where I hammered against Jeff.  The rest of today's stats didn't record as I forgot to start my GPS until we got to the turnaround.
16:02 miles
38:32
24.8 mph
Steve chased Jeff on the way to Ponder, and I'm sure he rode just as fast as my return leg stats above.  Peggy and Mark (aka EVBLAZER) rode strong and consistent all day.

Hi Ray,

We could meet there and ride down to the popscicle ride, or just cruise around the area.  What time are you hooking up with Joey.  I'll let you know about how long I could ride, depends on if I need to get home to pick up Sarah.  but Emily may come home tomorrow, and I'd be more free.

Take Care,
Nelson.
