Tx Tough 112 Mi ride / fundraiser - wanna join in?
Sep 3rd, 2008, 9:20am

The TX TOUGH Tour is a pledge fund-raiser created exclusively to raise money for Children's Medical Center in Dallas.  In 2008, the TX TOUGH Tour is scheduled for Sunday, September 14th, 2008 . We will START and FINISH at American Airlines Center in Victory Park.   Check out the website:

http://txtough.org/site3.aspx

I'm going to head up a team to do the 112-mile version, consisting of members of GDB and RBENT.  So I need a couple other 'benters to come along!  I hate fundraising as much as anyone, but this is a chance to actually have a century ride do some good other than towards my personal fitness.  If there are any other hardy souls out there that would like to ride along, please let me know ASAP.  The intended pace is to average ~18 for the day, with flat cruising at around 20 -- but if you want to join in and do it at a more casual pace, please join in anyway, and gather others wanting to go at the same pace!

This is the 56-mile loop, which we'll be doing TWICE...

Also, if there are any RBENT'ers out there who aren't doing the ride, but who would like to make a donation pledge to my ride fundraising goal of $1000, or the TEAM goal of $5,000 please step up!!!  Either post here, or email me offline at pbacoustic@gmail.com.  You can either pledge a set amount, or an "Amount per mile ridden".  While I will accept checks in advance, settling up after the fact is obviously going to happen as well.  Make checks out to Passion for Children's, Inc.

Your donation is Tax Deductible!  Passion for Children's, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization and ALL donations to PFC are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the law.

Either go here to donate to the team page online:

Or email me with your intent to donate by check.  Please copy and fill out the following into your email:

I ride my bike to ride my bike, and sometimes it takes me where I need to go.

Perhaps I've set the pace bar too high...  how about 18-20 cruise, wanting to average 16-17?

In case fundraising $300 is daunting to anyone considering joining, my total so far after just FOUR DAYS is up to $650....   and thanks to all donators!!!

I think we might also be able to have people do a 56-mile version of it, not doing the second lap -- so if you are someone who can keep the 17+ pace up for that long, join in!  Just make sure to be up front with your ride distance plans when you send out emails...
