4th of July ride in Alabama
Jul 4th, 2008, 11:31am

Hi Folks had a nice very rural ride in Alabama this morning from my Mom's house.

Had an interesting experience when I got down to the river with a couple of Good Ol Boys with a large Confederate flag planted and enjoying some morning moonshine in the shade next to the river.  Made quite a point of asking how "Y'all" were doing, and attempting to not appear as something that might be good barbequed.  I didn't take pictures as at one point I asked them if they had a folks joiing them and they mentioned that it was unlikely on account of they were afraid of "The Law".  I didn't linger.

I enjoyed the ride though, and got some serious climbing in for such a short ride.  20 miles and over 3000' feet of climbing, and some 8 miles of dirt road.  Have fun on the Populaire, sorry I can't join you guys!

Take Care,
Nelson.
