WRL Thursday night(s)
May 29th, 2008, 9:56am

Starting tonight, and hopefully for most of the summer, Terrie and I are planning to ride together at White Rock lake every Thursday night.  Tonight (5/29) we're planning to meet at the Bath House for a 6PM rollout, to do one or two casual laps, with stops, finishing by around 8PM.  This is a ~10 mph cruise, for anyone interested in joining along.   Stepson Brian will be there tonight, riding the new Zenetik.

If you're planning to join us, but are running a bit late, call my cellphone and we'll wait a few minutes.  214 923 9551

You guys still a GO for this Thursday June 05? Thought I'ld catch the 3:05PM TRE  and tool around a bit and join up with you for the start of your ride. Eddie and I rode RLP yesterday evening and oddly enough, riding in the evening has a different "feel" about it than my usual early ti mid morning rides..I guess a change in scenery makes for a fun ride, especially with fellow bent riders.

I cannot make it this week, but will be there next week if you are doing it.  It sounds like you are just my speed.

It doesn't sound like we'll be doing it tomorrow (6/5) -- the wind forecast ( Windy, with a south wind between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.)    is a bit too high for Terrie, both from a standpoint of getting blown all over the path and that of not liking to get dust in her eyes...  Apologies!!!

Yeah, looks like that old wind is working overtime Thursday, not a good time on top of a bike of any kind. Perhaps next Thursday will be a better chance. It will be good ride prior to Collin Classic. Hope to see you then.

I've been doing WRL during the windy season the last few weeks and always notice the same thing when dealing with a strong south wind

1. It's never as bad as you think it will be

2. It's only a problem briefly at the start of the east side before Big Thicket, right after the bathhouse and a couple of places past  Winfred Point, most of the time the surrounding hills and trees block most of the wind

3. The stronger it is from the south the faster you can go on the west side

4. There is no #4

I don't mind it that much myself, either, but I'm not the deciding factor in this particular decision...   Wink

Oh, and we didn't ride last night because T had to work and I was outta town... sowwy!

If we ride tomorrow night (6/26), we'll be starting at the top of the WRTrail at Hillcrest and 635, to ride the trail, instead of starting at the Bath House.

[ change of plans -- we're not doing this on 6/26]
