LSR Italy 200K (300,400,600 as well) 03/29/08 0700
Mar 23rd, 2008, 8:34pm

Hi Folks,

I know the Petty's are out, but that Ray and I are riding the 200.  Sounded like Greg was pretty positive about it.  Anybody else in this time around?  This is a pretty bent friendly course.  Ray and I will be riding our Bacchetta's.  Hope to see some of the RBENT gang.

Take Care,
Nelson.

I think I've found a way to fix my toe to be a little more comfortable, and if I don't push the pace, and if you and Ray are willing to stay with me for this one, and sag me the hell out if I can't continue, I'll do it.  I'm really gung-ho about this, because I know I can survive the saddle time - it's just the unknown that's sacring me.

So if you guys don't mind, PM me your cell numbers.

Hey Greg we're there for you!  That's what randonneuring is all about.
Besides I'm certain we'll be straining to keep up!

Take Care,
Nelson.

Well I'm back from Hell Week.  It was my lowest output in many years of hell week.  My health hasn't been good lately, so Greg; I will be VERY slow Saturday.

1.  My lower back is quite bad.  I'm in physical therapy as well as several types of injection therapy.  Next step is surgery.
2.  I recently developed "gastro' problems, and had a colonoscopy this morning.  Hopefully the polyps are normal.
3.  My childhood asthma has reared it's ugly head. If I raise my HR to a paltry 135, I'm gasping for air, literally.  I have a doctor appointment at 1:45 today.  I want at least a chest/lung X-ray and possibly a CT/MRI.  Both my parents were huge chain smokers of filterless cigarettes and we lives in a very small house.

Other than that, everything is wonderful

Dang, Ray. Sorry to hear all that. I, too, am having exercise induced asthma, whenever I ride hard on either the Roadster or Corsa. In my case, it seems to be a byproduct of the lung surgery I had; I'd never had it before that.

Bud - did your doctor prescribe an inhaler to use when your riding?  I just returned from the doctor, and a chest/lung Xray revealed nodule(s) on one of my lungs.  I am scheduled for a CT scan Friday.

So for anyone planning on riding the 200k this Saturday, expect to see my in your rear view mirror.  My legs are rock strong, but the lungs are a different story.  This is very frustrating.  I had knee surgery in early '07, and it took most of the year to regain all my strength.  Now that my knee/legs are 100% I'm having significant breathing problems.

On my way to pick up a steroid pack as my doctor is confident that my breathing problems are due to an inflamation.  Next step is to get the CT scan and results.

Hopefully we all can recover and peak for TTTT later this fall.

My appointment with my regular doctor is next Monday. Hopefully, I'll get a new inhaler prescription then. I've been using a long expired inhaler left over from a bronchitis episode years ago.

Here's hoping you have a better result from your lung nodule than I did; that same x-ray result is how my current health adventure started.

Well, the farking coach was nice to the baseball JV and got them an extra game this saturday, so that effectively makes my darne ddecision for me - I'm out of the ride, and NOT happy.

Bummer,  I'll miss riding with you.  Ray and I were playing around with riding his Spanish Fort Perm (220K or so) in April.  I was thinking the 12th, but I notice several people are going to the Lancaster Ride so I'll consult some more with him.

Take Care,
Nelson.

Ray, let's hope for the best. Early detection & being a younger man are 2 very big PLUSES! Peggy & I were very sorry to hear this news. Keep us posted.

Exactly, Ray - I'm sure it's nothing.  However, we could all get blue kits and form Team Crip for the TTTT.  You, me, Bud, and Steve!
