White Rock Fair Weather Ride, Sat Dec 8th, 1PM
Nov 25th, 2007, 3:58pm

I'd like to get some folks together for a ride of loops around White Rock on Saturday the 8th -- but starting at 1PM, to give whatever chill will probably be in the air a chance to go away a bit.

FAIR WEATHER CAVEATS --
   *  If it's below 40 degrees, it's off;
   *  If it's been raining, and areas around White Rock are probably still wet, it's off;
   *  If it's below 50 degrees, and the forecast says > 50% chance of rain, it's off;

MEET AT:  The parking lot just west of the 7-11, near the spillway.  Departure 1PM, or as close as possible.

Two Speed Groups anticipated -- a) 17-20 cruising speed, with sprint zones, three loops, and probable Loving Hills work;  b) 12-16 cruising speed, more casual, two loops or whatever you want to do.  Regrouping encouraged, as most of us are familiar with White Rock.  Anticipated finish around 3:30PM.

Get out the balaclavas!  There's a reasonable possibility of hot chocolate and snacks existing after the ride...   Cheesy

I will post on this board any last minute weather-related cancellations.

Paul

Cheesy Sounds good to me. I can make it baring any unforseen family obligations. I ordered a replacement idler from Hostel Shoppe  so my shifting will work right again on my "new" EZ 1CT and I look forward to riding with the old gang again.

I might be able to make it.  Robert, would you like to ride together?  I am in Southlake.  Aren't you in Keller?

I'll bring my favorite post-ride recovery beverage:  Blue Moon.

Would that be Blue Moon Belgian White, or Blue Moon the martini???   Cheesy

Careful, the poe-leeze don't approve of open containers 'round White Rock...

That would be Blue Moon Belgian White, in a frosty mug, with a wedge of orange.  Bummer about the White Rock rule.  I didn't know about that.  Oh, well.  It's still a great recovery drink!

Looks like Charlie's in.  We'll figure out how to get his, Steve W's and my bike in my truck.

I'm also leading the GDB "Distance Builder" ride that morning at 9AM to the tune of about 40 miles (probable average 14), so if anybody wants to join me for pretty much the entire freaking day on the bike and get in a reasonably casual-paced Metric, c'mon out to the southwest corner of Preston and Forest that morning!!!   Weather forecast looks promising, at least as of Monday AM...

J.S., priorities! I thought when the kids finally left the roost ,you had all the free time in the world? Just set the kiddies in front of the TV set & go about your ride,they'll be fine.

On another note,will you be riding the New Rears ride again this year? Peggy & I are both riding(weather permitting). Since I been recovering ,the 37 mile route makes more sense than the 200K brevet(for me). I gotta work back up to that distance or I will be back on the sidelines again.

As a suggestion if folks want to eat afterward we could eat at Barbec’s.

Great Mom&Pop Diner that is famous for their beer biscuits.
Its located just a few blocks from the starting location.

This is likely going to be a casual ride for all.  The White Rock Marathon starts at 8:00AM  and according to this website:
http://onlineraceresults.com/race/view_race.php?race_id=4557
The average runner takes 4:21:04  Whichs means that we will see the straglers athe tail end of the race at 1:00PM.   Which means that we will have to dodge a few mind numbed deaf marathon runners who are high on endorphens and sport walkmans in their ears.

The ride is Saturday, but the Marathon is Sunday.
