White Rock Lake Updates

White Rock Lake updates:

1)
Subject: RE: Valley View Park and White Rock Trail
Date: Fri, 5 Oct 2007 17:45:42 -0500
From: "Natinsky, Ron"
To:

Hi Richard, I've had the park staff working on this issue since you
wrote and today they informed me that the contractor has re-arranged
their schedule and it looks like the bridge and trail at the north end above LBJ will now be
re-opened around the 3rd week of Oct. I know this has been an
inconvenience but the closure was necessary due to safety issues. With
the re-arranging of the schedule you won't have to wait until next year
as originally planned. If anything else, please let me know.
Thank you,
Ron Natinsky
Dallas City Council

2)   West Lawther Drive between Bay Circle and Mockingbird will be converted to a one-lane road northbound, with the other lane to be used by foot/bike traffic.  Parks and Rec are tearing up the trail along the lake, and no schedule is set yet for completion.

I wonder how much of the work in progress got washed away by the flooding yesterday? The pictures in today's paper showed extensive flooding in the area (the underpass at 635 was under about 4 feet of water).

I got a kick out of the radio talking about that flooding yesterday.  One of the roads near While Rock is set up with a red light that flashes when there's flooding, to warn people not to drive into the water. Yesterday, with lights flashing away, three people drove into it anyway. Four foot deep water isn't very vehicle friendly, unless that vehicle is a boat.....
