We were definitely putting the hurt on some folks. THere was a guy in full CSC(?) kit hammering for the finish line that buzzed by us about a mile from the finish crossing the freeway overpass, and I buzzed him right back about 50 yards later... uphill....

I think I know the guy you mean. There was a young guy in CSC kit that I passed going uphill right before the final right turn before the final left turn to the finish. That was apparently the last straw for him. He stood up and hammered past me like he was sprinting down the Champs-Élysées toward downtown Paris.

Or maybe he'd finally got his legs back enough to make a try at catching you.
