Hwy 428 is currently being repaved to smooth asphalt at the request of aikigreg Wink.  The scheduled completion date is June 30, depending on weather and the "surly" construction crews.

I will make a go/no-go call by July 1 on whether we go or postpone (probably until September)

Thanks,

DB

Hey, while the crews are out there, do you suppose you could get them to smoothe out some of those hills?

I would like to take this opportunity to file an official protest.
The change in surface gives an advantage to those folks with skinny tires!  cry

Everyone should have to run at 60psi or something.  Wink

Based on the previous results I think us skinny tire types NEED a handicap!  Pretty sure you and your big tires kicked our tails.  I might have a chance if they make you ride in the ditch! Grin

Fair enough, since I may be track racing in Houston.

It will definitely NOT be Sep 27.  Festival of Speed at the Superdrome and quite possibly the TT24TT as well

DOT tells me the paving should be completed today, tomorrow at the latest with the striping contractor coming out late this week, early next.

I'll get bikereg up and running ASAP.

This is the last one we are doing this year...if you are thinking about doing state, this is perfect for your final practice run...especially for you teams!

Does anyone know if the repaved Hwy 428 include repaved asphalt sholders?    The reason I ask is because I will run 28mm tires if the sholder is chip-seal.  And 23mm tires if its asphalt.   Smiley

The Bikereg website says: http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6829

Quote:

New for May and July, in order to keep the city and citizens of Aubrey happy:

The race will be run on the shoulder only, except for the turnaround. Racing in the traffic lane will get you a 30 second penalty per infraction, or a DQ depending on the situation as determined by the officiating crew.

I'll be going. I didn't want to register first and be up front again. Wanted to try it from the back or near back at least so I'll be waiting to register a few days. I'm trying out 26"x1.1" (28mm) stelvios. So far I've been going a bit slower with them over my vredstien 1.3s but at least the stelvios haven't seperated from the bead. Maybe my+bike+gear weight and the roads I ride on don't agree with the skinny tires.

I was thinking I could put some 700c rims on but they are all caliper brakes and my giro is disc. I may just put some on there to see about tire clearance and standover height with them. I gotta pull the rear wheel off the giro anyhow because it isn't very straight or round  cry

For anyone that will be racing on a one-day license, you can still pre-register.  But, you will need to fill out a one-day license application on site.  Make sure you grab the correct form please Smiley  We are low...
