Ok to avoid screwing this up. To get my one day USAC license I just need to hand you $10(?) cash after waiting in line or is there something I should be doing now?

Glad you asked...there is a one-day license form that doubles as a waiver.  Since it is a 3 part form, I can't put it on the web for you.  There will be a table with them on it at the registration area.  We should have a traffic director there to point you to them.  Ask for the "one-day license."

And yes, $10 cash please...no checks or credit cards are taken, except for purchasing an annual license ($60) which makes no sense for recumbent racers.

Thanks for asking,

We can't be members of the organization though because we ride bents, which are illegal int he organization, yes?

If there were 6+ events that allowed recumbents, legally usac or not, couldn't we we register as cat 5 road? I guess we could anyways if we wanted to have a neato # or something.

Technically recumbents are not illegal, they just require a separate race category, which promoters are either unaware of/ or choose not to promote or include in their events.  The license is for you, not your bike choice.  Thanks Kevin for including us.

Also by joing USAC for this race you automatically have a category (5 unless you have a annual license and have upgraded).

Take Care,
Nelson.

Nelson has got it exactly right.  The person is licensed, not the bike.  Just like I can't race my track bike in a road event as is, a 'bent can't race against uprights (ya'll are just too fast...) but you can race each other.  Same for tandems...they get their own category for the races where the promoters want to include them, such as the state time trials in Pattison.

For Nelson, it makes sense to have an annual since he can race crits and maybe even track someday.  For those that only do HCTT, 3 one days is the better deal.

Them perhaps but not I. Actually I took my very old merlin road bike out last night WOW was I fast and it felt so quick  Smiley  Well I mean fast compared to me on my Giro which probably has a good 30lbs over the merlin. I also found the leaning over in the drops feels faster then laying back so reclined on my high racer.

Maybe next year depending on if I get better in these TTs I might go for a cat 5 race just well just because.

looks like I will be on the aero again, as I am without a 700c rear wheel for the tica.  It's being garrie-ized.   You guys might have a chance tomorrow!   Grin

Very late notice ,but Peggy & I are NOT going to be able to make the TT's tomorrow. Peggy's had a really, really long week at work(in conjunction with a long, but rewarding MS-150 weekend) .So we're going to skip this ride ,BUT we're riding Sunday with Bud.

We feel the need to spend some time at home & catch up on yard work,etc... Just not enough hours in a day ,so priorities come into play.

Good luck to EV ,Robert ,Greg ,Nelson & everyone else riding tomorrow. Kevin ,we'll try this again in July. Sorry for the late notice.

Hey Kevin:  I can't locate the results for the March TT.  I'm thinking I knocked more than a minute off my time but not sure I'm remembering right.  And Mark, you rode a good strong ride.  Glad to meet you!  The ride out was not anywhere near as fast as March (with the 20 mph tailwind) but the ride back, even though uphill and running out of gas about half way, was a lot quicker.

Thanks I think it was good that I started out front so I was always glancing in my mirrors and keeping up the pace as much as possible to stay out there.

I dont' think I could do it twice in one day for sure. Even if I had the endurance, which I don't, I'd miss my bent start time if I rode 4/5 even if I was the first one away.

Hwy 428 is currently being repaved to smooth asphalt at the request of aikigreg Wink.  The scheduled completion date is June 30, depending on weather and the "surly" construction crews.

I will make a go/no-go call by July 1 on whether we go or postpone (probably until September)

Thanks,

I would like to take this opportunity to file an official protest.
The change in surface gives an advantage to those folks with skinny tires!  cry

Everyone should have to run at 60psi or something.  Wink
