Quote from terranimo on May 8th, 2007, 11:02am:
The idea here is to have BOTH a picnic and a bike ride and invite casual bicyclers and folks who just want to picnic (and see Greg’s bike) The tentative date is Sunday Afternoon May 20th. This is a good weekend since its a week before Memorial Day weekend. I scoped out a locations on the Westside of WRL. The first is midway down the lake at the 3800 block of Lawther. Wasn’t too busy and plenty of parking. It right up against the lake and the bike trail but has two Porta-potties for bathrooms. The second is near the bottom of the lake (3300 Lawther Drive) near the Boat house and has a real restroom. This a more popular spot so parking is a little somewhat tight. Im not looking to reserve a picnic area with a shelter, so at either location we would need to find someone that has a canopy so we can at least cover the table with the food.

We could recruit folks to get their early enough on Sunday to set up the Canopy and stake out a nice location away from the reserved picnic areas. This will be the morning rally spot. We will have an official lunch starting at 12:00PM with a Bicycle Show and tell at 1:00PM. So if your out riding. Be back by 1:00PM so that non-bicycling folks can see your recumbent. Rather then have a pot luck, I want to have a BYOM (bring you own meat) and have generous volunteers (Like myself) supply side dishes like Potato Salad from Costco/Sams. This is a perfect opportunity to invite your non biking friends. I plan on bringing my old DF Hybrid Bike for anyone who wants to ride.

What to YEE say?

Terry

Bring on the beans and rice. All desserts are welcome, too! Smiley

Then beans and rice it is, Xtra Cajun. I'm going to have a bit of trouble getting there by 1300, that's the day for our annual church congregational meeting, which is like the Clinton impeachment hearings, or for you older guys the Watergate hearings. It just goes on and on and on...

Terry --
Is there a grill available at the particular spot, or are we counting on someone transporting a gas grill from home?  More details are needed with regard to cooking of deceased animals...
I've got an overhead canopy that I can set up, but I would need someone who lives locally to take it down and take it with them when everything's finished, since I have to leave at 1PM.  I would pick it up either later that night or a day or so later.

Eating at noon tends to demand cooking beginning at 11:30ish...  SO, let's plan for a 9AM prompt departure for riding, planning to finish somewhere near 11:30.

However, will there be someone NOT riding, as in, staying with the canopy, etc.?  I'd really hate to return to a disappeared canopy...
