The FWBA's April meeting will be tomorrow (Monday), April 2nd. I don't usually attend these meetings, but I'm going to join Mark Metcalfe at this one. For those of you who don't know Mark, he's the best long distance rider in this area. I run into him often on the Joe Pool dam, and ride with him sometimes (on his slow, base mile days - no way I can keep up with him any other time) there. The meeting's presentation will be on long distance riding, something which I'm not sure I'll ever get into, but which seems very interesting (and amazing) to me. Here is Jerry Trimble's info on the meeting, taken from FWBA's yahoo group: Our next meeting is tomorrow, April 2 at 7:30 pm. This is a meeting not to miss. Our very own rides coordinator Gary Gottlieb will be our speaker for the meeting. For the past four years Gary has participated in long distance cycling events with The Lone Star Randonneurs and the Houston Randonneurs. Gary, along with his friends from The Lone Star Randonneurs (many of which are also FWBA members) will present all aspects of long distance cycling including riding through the night, proper equipment, proper nutrition, and mental conditioning. On display will be several bicycles equipped for long distance over night riding, along with rider equipment, and the awards that have been won from the past several years of riding in these events. Also, as Sammy said, this will be a great opportunity for your early purchase of raffle tickets for the Trek 5.9 SL Madone. Get them now as it will not be long before they are gone. The meeting is at the usual location at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, 3500 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth, TX, Building #2, Room 2-100. Hope to see you there. Jerry
