Title: Cracked FRP seat on SprintX
Post by FlyingLaZBoy on Oct 28th, 2017, 8:48pm

Discovered a crack forming near the bend of the seat on the SprintX...  Contacted ICE about it, and they said they have seen a couple a few years ago, but none recently -- but considered it a 100% warranty replacement.  I attribute it probably to bending stress from leaning into curves, given the location.

Haven't had my ICE VTX's carbon seat crack, but have had my Carbent's seat crack. Successfully repaired it with epoxy and glass cloth. Painted the repair with semi-gloss black paint.

Well, I wasn't going to mention that.  :D  But seriously, if you weren't going to exercise the warranty, aircraft-grade epoxy and glass cloth would fix it. In addition to repairing my Carbent's seat with aircraft-grade epoxy, used it to glue the seat back on the bike, after the top layer of carbon on the frame tube came off with the seat. Tough stuff.
