Title: VeloKraft VK2 Carbon Low Racer
Post by jayg on Apr 21st, 2017, 4:09pm

Purchased a VK2 listed in BROL classified ads section, about a week after I purchased my M5 CMR from same classified ads. It has a rare "Small" frame, so I couldn't let it get away. It's a 2010, or earlier, model, but the frame is in very good shape for an older bike. Had high-quality, SRAM, 9-speed components on it, to include an FSA carbon crankset, but I replaced all of them with 11-speed components. Had Bent Up Cycles build a new asymmetric front wheel for it (Bike had a generator hub on its front wheel that I didn't want). Also, had them replace the rear wheel's 9-speed freewheel with an 11-speed. Bike weighs in at 23 pounds, ready to ride. Seat angle is 22 or 23 degrees. Fixed tiller is all carbon (Takes a lot of effort to exit the bike with the fixed tiller). It's a very nimble SWB bike.

Small frame VK2. Gloss black finish. Offset fork and dropped chain. 406/700c wheel format. Panaracer red wall tires. Ventisit seat pad. Carbon seat is an integral part of the frame.

Custom, 150 mm, SRAM Apex compact crankset w/46T and 34T chain rings. SRAM GPX-compatible OMNI ceramic-bearing bottom bracket. Crank Brothers Eggbeater 3 pedals.

Fixed carbon tiller. SRAM GX trigger shifters and Tektro RX 5.0 carbon reverse brake levers.

Super lightweight Mr. Control caliper brakes. Just a few grams heavier than a set of Bacchetta X-Eyed brakes, but $200 cheaper. Excellent stopping power in combination w/Tektro RX 5.0 brake levers. Front brake is rear mounted for improved aerodynamics.

Thanks, Joe. Wish I had your legs, so I could make it go really fast.  :)

The only way that could happen would be for me to wake up one morning and, magically, be 20 years younger and Paul Brown.  :D

Seriously, my three carbon bikes don't make me any faster on the flats than my heavier aluminum bikes, but they are more nimble, stop faster, accelerate faster, climb hills better, and are easier to move around and load into my van.

That thing's like a North Korean missile (You don't know what direction it's going to go).
