Post by FlyingLaZBoy on Dec 19th, 2016, 9:46am

The Dallas Parks and Recreation are bringing the Dallas Sr. Games. The cycling part will be held
March 4 & 5 at the TX  Motor Speedway on the outside 5 mile loop.  According to Dean Wilkinson (the organizer), they are going to have
2-wheel and 3-wheel recumbent categories, separate from the road bikes and Time Trial bikes, and possibly faired/unfaired categories as well (for you Velo owners)

Schedule:

March 4th -9:00a.m.     - 5K Time Trial, 10 K Time Trial and a 20K Road  Race
March 5th  9:00a.m.             40K Road Race

Only requirement is that you have to be 50 or older, and breathing.   :D

Total entry fee will be $40.00.

Ft.Worth Policemen, Ambulance, and a USCF referee for timing will be on hand.  Registration will start Jan 3rd and end Feb 28

I'll post more as I find out...

Sounds fun if only cuz it's close. Only if they get it all figured out by them.

Since I don't get back until Saturday, I'm probabaly going to sign up for the 40K race on Sunday.  Anyone else planning to participate, in some fashion?  Dean Wilkinson (GDB) has made a true effort to include 'bents in this...

Still cogitating about it.

I"m registered for the 40K on that Sunday, three-wheel division.

Registration fee is $40 total, regardless of how many things you participate in.  The registration site is a little confusing, but you basically check the boxes for everything you want to participate in, including indicating your 2- or 3-wheel class.  Ignore the "60-64" that seems to be present after every choice - no idea why that's there.

Jane Knight is publicizing the hell out of this on Facebook...  :D

Is that 40k just loops around TMS?

Yes, around the outside (not the track) per my understanding.

The 20K and 40K road race allows drafting. No fairings are allowed... two wheel and three wheel recumbents are different classes, as are men and women. I'm not sure about age group classifications...

Well, I can't make it. I had Inguinal hernia surgery 21 days ago, and will have major shoulder surgery on the 14th of February. I hope everyone good luck and have fun. Get those velos out there and show case them. I hope to be there next year.

I was trying to determine if it would be possible to ride all of the events and sent a note to DPR.  Here is the response I got back.  Saturday morning looks like you are going to clip in and basically spend the next 3 and half hour doing a sprint.  If all goes well you should be done by 1:00.  I did send a follow-up to see if it was a mass or staggered start.

SCHEDULE

March 4th(Sat)  9:00a.m.-5KTT      10:15a.m. -10KTT     11:30a.m.- 20K Road Race
(estimated times- based  # cyclists and punctual start time at 9:00a.m. Sat morning)

March 5th(Sun) 9:00 a.m.-start-

Racing Venue is on the East Side of the 5 mile loop

After I got the start time information from Dean in the earlier note I asked about the type of start mass or staggered.  Below it the response.

Men will race separately from women.

Men- will race by age groups 50-54, 55-59,60-64 etc. if they are large enough.
If the groups are small I might combine 2 age groups.

We will start the age groups at least 2 minutes apart.

Does anyone know if they are doing the bicycle events separate from the trike events? I signed up for both but am now wondering if I will be able to do so. It would be nice to get some clearer scheduling information.
