Registration is mow open for the Gateway to Texas Get*A*Way Tour in Clarksville, Tx. This is a good tour that is relatively close to DFW. Ride four days and stay in the air conditioned gym at night. Details at the following site:

Had a great time doing this last year. Hoping my schedule will allow me to do it again. Really fun ride with super nice people.

Spot reserved for myself and a couple on a recumbent tandem.  I'm waiting on time-off approval but should be sending check soon.  See you there.

I just wanted to take a look and see what the routes look like prior to deciding whether or not to plan it.  I'm not sure I'll have 5 days of vacation time left to take, but I'd like to go.

I'm only taking 2 vacation days (Thursday & Friday).  I'm leaving work around 3pm on Wednesday and driving straight there arrving around 5 - 5:30 pm to get settled.  Not sure why you'd need 5 days.....

All routes are really flat and very very little traffic - lots of great riding!!

Last year route choices were as follows:

Day 1 Thursday
Short:  40 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4980325
Medium:  57 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4980318
Long:  75 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4980310

Day 2 Friday
Short:  44 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5000648
Medium:  55 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5000627
Long:  79 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4980386

Day 3 Saturday
Short:  39 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5000730
Medium:  53 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5000690
Long:  67 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5000683

Day 4 Sunday
optional:  30 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4980313

TonyWard, you're absolutely right! I would only need 2 days off - I just wasn't thinking. Thanks for the links!

Now, which length is everyone choosing?  Short, Medium, or Long? Also, is everyone just camping in the gym, or something else?

I think everyone on here will be in the gym. There is just one small motel in town and a bed and breakfast.  I suspect the motel is probably full but you would have to call to confirm.  I ride with PBA (on a DF) now since I don't own any recumbents at the present time and there are quite a few people from there going as well.  Several of them I know already have rooms at the motel.  I'm cheap so you will find me in the gym - besides - if you aren't at the school you miss out on all the fun anyway (it is the main gathering place to spread rumors and relive the highlights of the days ride).

Last year I did the long routes on Day 1 & 3.  I was pretty tired after doing the long route on Day 1 so I did the medium route.  We had a good paceline of about 2 dozen DF riders (mostly PBA) from last year and it was a lot of fun.  I'm hoping to be good to do the long route each day this year.

My Colorado backpacking trip got cancelled, giving me the opportunity to do this one after all. Got signed up today, registration in the mail. Don't know if my husband will be joining me this year as none of our kids will be home and we have too many pets to care for.
