Title: Clown Christmas Party
Post by jcsadowski on Nov 22nd, 2014, 1:22pm

Now that construction is finished, Shirley has given me reluctant permission to have the Clown Christmas party at our house.
1300 Huntington - Richardson, TX 75080  (behind RBM)

We can have a pot luck lunch, I will provide burgers and dogs on the grill.
Let me know if you plan to come so I can get enough.
Bring a white elephant gift under $10.00
Tentatively starting at noon.

A thought is to have a short ride in the morning and ride the RBM Recumbent route for 10, 20 or even 30 miles.

Let me have your opinion before anything is finalized.

John, isn't the 14th the day Bob, Kathy, Lynn, and Larry return from Australia? Will they be able to make it?

I'll be there whatever day it is.

That's the White Rock (Dallas) Marathon that morning, so I'll be handing out Clif shots -- but I could get there a bit late...   Thanks for hosting!!!!  Sounds great, although I probably can't get there till 1PM...

My wife has talked me into going to Sonny Bryan's Barbecue for the Clown Christmas party. So I could use a headcount so I know how much to but.

So far I count 14 people coming. Anybody else?

John - If I'm in your headcount please remove me.  I'm down with the flu and not sure I'll be better by then.  I'll have to see ya'll another time.  Have fun!

I hate to be all pedantic but since I need to plan out my pre-ride ride ..   What time do we want to gather up to do the ride-ride before the lunch?

I think the idea of a ride has diminished because of the potential of rain. I anybody else interested?

Its just water .. you won't melt, and you'll have bike riding stories to tell your grandkids ..    "The day I road in the rain with a bunch of other lawn-chair riding crazies and --- happened"   Bob F. and I could tell stories about going down the side of a hill  in the pouring rain, while riding a couple of  Vision USS R45s sliding all over the road, covering multiple lanes in what only could be called "Drunken S Turns"  and somehow getting to the bottom of the mile or so 3% drop while remaining upright.    You don't get stories like that by hiding indoors  from the weather. no-sir!  .. of course you don't have the dreams you wake screaming from either as your subconscious relives the terror, but that is just a small price to pay.

I'll be happy to lead a no-drop group ride out from there (or RBM) -- if it doesn't rain that is ..  ;D    I'll keep an eye out on the weather and post something here

So 12:30 lunch .. how about a 9:30 start for a 20-30 mileish ride?   we can either do the RBM route or do some of the MUPs and other routes north of there in plano.   Selfishly a 9:30  start will give me time to ride in from my home without having to break out the lights.   We can keep an eye on the weather and make a go/no go call by 10pm  saturday night.  (and if you want to ride from my house in, your welcome to join, but the pace will be rather brisk)

Where is the Sonny Bryan's?  I will also do the ride if it's dry.

As to not clutter up the street in-front of the house.  I plan to be at RBM around 930 (assuming its dry .. haha)   We will ride the distance and speed which gets us back around 1230 as to make sure we don't miss any of the festivities ..

I will post here a go/no-go for myself around 8:30am

Good to be back and get together with friends!  And Paul, I checked BJ clubs, and I'm just glad Jay and Kenny don't log on Bikejournal.
