Title: The Captain American VK2
Post by aikigreg on Jul 6th, 2012, 5:13pm

Incredibly designed and customized VK2.  Custom painted frame.
Frame size large which means it should easily fit 42-47 x seam.
Double crankset 50/39.  170mm, custom painted blue carbon.
0 speed 11-28 cogset in back.
Hed Jet 60mm carbon deep dish front wheel
Custom painted offset front fork to cut down on chain slap.
Rear has no ID labeling, but loks like a velocity.  28 spoke, true, and quick.
Sram X0 twist shifters
Sram X0 rear derailleur
Ultegra front derailleur
Shimano rear brake
Shimano brake levers
Zero 0 (or negative G) front brake mounted behind the fork.
Custom made headrest
seat pad made by wrapping ventisit layer around a zotefoam layer - comfy!
2 carbon bottle cages
Tailbox with custom light mount.

I dunno what the bike weighs, but it's light for a lowracer - very light.  The tailbox can give you ridiculous speed bursts.  I've coasted at 22mph uphill, had a breeze come, and the bike accelerated to 25!  It's easily the most comfy carbon bike I've ever ridden.  I've done my fastest 200ks on this bike - on a course with over 9,000 feet of climbing.

The condition of the bike is great.  It's had some mods made to it that do not affect performance or strength.  It's been ridden, so the paint isn't as perfect as when it rolled out of the shop, but it's still outstanding.  The carbon tailbox doesn't have a scratch.  Pics and links below.  Some pics may have different components on the bike, but the above is how it will sell.

I was asking 3200 on Bentrider, but the RBENT price is 3000 even.  2650 without the tailbox.
My pics - excuse the blast furnace that is the texas sun - you can see how shiny and perfect the carbon is, since you can see my reflection in the tailbox!

The famous Captain America VK2?!   [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

I can't believe it!  Why are you selling it?
By the way, the links don't seem to be working.

Found photos of the bike on Jim's site.  Didn't he sell the rear disc with the bike?
I saw that he also sold Silk.  Gee, the end of the world must be soon. . . oh yeah, December 21.   [smiley=shrug.gif]

:) Jim kept the disc.  The only reason I'm selling it is because My current state of overweighty-ness makes it pointless to ride such a fast bike, and with the meds I'm on the weight is very very hard to take off.  So it might as well go to someone who can use it.  I won't be sad if it doesn't sell though!

I'm light...maybe I could rent it for a while... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Seriously though, having seen this bike live, I'd love to try it out for a spell, but it's out of my afford ability range.  Maybe I could come ride with you way over there sometime.  It's quite a drive for me though...

That is one sweet looking bike, if I hadn't just reached maximum toy limit with my new kayak I'd be trying to find room for it in my garage.
