Title: New Years Day Ride (how bout it)
Post by jman on Dec 26th, 2007, 8:18am

The last few years I have done a New Years Day ride. Would anyone else care to join me? We could (if hes well and Rose doesn't mind) start out in Bud's neighborhood or River Legacy Park or start out from Eddie and mines apartment complex. First I need to find out if anyone is interested, then the where to start, etc.
Happy Trails,
JoesBentForLife

Joe,

I won't be able to ride New Year's Day. Any riding I do in the next few weeks will have to be on my stationary bike. With three new incisions between my ribs, the largest of which is at least 10 inches long, the danger of injury from falling is just too great. If the weather is nice, Rose might ride.

Joe,

Weather permitting, I would be in for that.

As an additional option, IC3 is doing a 100K ride starting in Allen and going up through McKinney, Blue Ridge, Melissa and back.

Proposed route is here:

If you happen to know those roads and are aware that they won't work for some reason, please let me know :)

I'm thinking noon.

Only problem I can see with your route is it's going to cross the Happy New Rear ride several times.

Got a link for that?  maybe we'll join 'em

never mind..I found it.  They start at 10-11am, 30 miles away from our start...probably won;t run over too many of them, since we start at noonish in Allen

Probably not a problem with riders running into each other, but route markings may be an issue.

Our Lone Star Randonneur Club has an annual 200k on January 1st. It leaves from Dan Driscoll's house in Arlington.  If anyone is interested, drop me a line.  I wish Bud, Nelson, Steve, and Peggy could ride with us.

I have a new DF bike to debut at this event.  For the past 6 months, I've been working with a local custom frame builder who created a custom, fully integrated Randonneuring bike for me.  It's awesome.  Lights, racks, wiring, fenders, etc., all are built into or on the frame.  It's a work of art.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

I wish too. I have joined a gym & start strength/flexible training this Wednesday. Ray, I can't wait to see the new wheels. I'll be ready for a Feb. brevet.

Steve - I embrassed the same path as you, though I had knee surgery. I hope you don't need surgery.
I too joined a gym, LifeTime Fitness.  My physical therapist provided me with a great series of quad/knee strengthening exercises.  I know have a trainer, and lift (legs) 2 or 3 times a week.  We should share workouts.

I look forward to riding with you, Peggy, Bud, Paul, etc. again real soon.

Happy New Year.

Ray
