Title: Rio Vista Rumble 200K
Post by Kwijybow on May 22nd, 2007, 10:20am

Had a great ride with Ray Torrey yesterday on the Rio Vista Rumble 200K permanent.  Started in the rain, but that cleared up after about an hour, and it stayed relatively cool and overcast all day.  There was a pretty stout SSE wind all day but that was nice coming home.  I can highly recommend this route as recumbent friendly, some climbing to be had in the last 30 miles, but some really nice rolling sections before that were just a blast on the Corsa.  The drop down Lake Ridge Pkwy back to the marina, with a 20mph tailwind was a lot of fun.  :D

I'm hoping to join y'all on my first 200k this weekend.  We'll see!

Awesome Greg!  Is it to be a lowracer speed brevet?  I look forward to meeting you!  I'll be on my Corsa with my heavy duty wheelset.  I thought about lightning it up and putting on the fast wheels, but it looks a bit rainy now, so figured I stick with the heavier duty stuff.

Take Care,
Nelson.

Heck no!  Bud has painted me a picture of the elevation and scared me half to death, so I'm bringing the p-38.  Plus, I don't have the room to haul brevet supplies on the lowracer just yet.

I wouldn't worry too much Greg, but I agree that the p-38 is a bit more suited to the pace of a Brevet.  Its possible that you might even get ahead of the controls opening on a lowracer!  What kind of gearing did your TiCa come with?  I was actually wrong about my corsa earlier, I currently have  34/44/54  12-28 on it and that is fine for this course.

It has a 30 granny and 50 high gear, with a 12-25 in the back.  Not enough!  I've got q-rings to put on the front and I'm going to have a set made for a road gearing with bailout for the back.  Something like 11-12-13-15-17-20-24-28-32 maybe.

Greg did you order your custom cogs yet?
