Title: Tour de Gruene
Post by Denman on Oct 20th, 2013, 9:04am

Looking at the upcoming Tour de Gruene I wondered if anyone has tried this before, and if anyone is planning to ride it this year.  We're kind of considering it at this point, but only the 35 mile recreational route if we do.

Through the Hill country should be a scenic ride.

I did it last year, on that one the first half was extremely flat while the last half was hilly, they made a change and it's all going north into some hills. It's an EXCELLENT ride with the last 15 miles along the Guadalupe river which is spectacular.

Only problem however is they had some flash floods in the area which for now have washed out a couple of sections of that last 15 miles

I will be there hoping it's a temporary problem that will be resolved. Here's my take on last years ride, the 35 mile route will be going to the north, they eliminated that northeast section this year. By all means do it!

We chose not to try this one, now I'm kind of wishing we had.  Between the floods and my wife doesn't know if she's up to 35+ miles yet we decided to stay home.  The video was pretty good, thanks.

It's too bad because it was an incredible ride, they did a good job fixing river road so the flooding wasn't an issue. I had a blast, one of the best rides of the year
