We are looking for someway to add an electric/battery motor to my husband's sun trike so he can stay out longer on the trike...he has been diagnosed with an inoperable benign polyp [smiley=injured.gif] [smiley=headbang.gif]and that is why he has a hard time pedaling if there has to be effort...causes lots of pain like he pulled a muscle so we have to figure out what to do...

so if anyone has any input, ideas or ? please let me know.

This would probably be the easiest and cheapest way. http://www.ridekick.com/

I believe they carry them in RBM as I have heard they use them on the monthly trike ride (which is Saturday) for those that need help getting back to the shop. You should be able to find reviews and videos online.

The Ride Kick would definitely be the easiest and quickest approach for you. Charge it, hook it up to the trike and take off. Don't want to ride with it? Disconnect it. Its really that simple. If you decided to go with a system that would need to be added to the trike, you might consider writing or calling Mike Librik at Easy Street. He has done some of those and can help you decide what system would be best for you.

I did talk to Utah bikes about a ride kick but he said it would probably not work on a sun trike.
any other suggestions? what about bionx?

Susan I suggest you call Mike Librik at Easy Street as well. They have some really great minds when it comes to solving problems for recumbents, since recumbents are all they deal with.

The trouble with mounted assists is they are HEAVY. WHo wants added weight on their trike????? Ride Kicks are really great, and I can see why they might not work on a Sun, but who knows -- maybe the Easy Street Mob can think of somethng?
