Title: Wooden bikes Post by FlyingLaZBoy on Oct 4th, 2012, 12:28pm Found some fun pics of bikes made of wood in the Phillipines, Africa, and other locales.... A couple samples: http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae256/pbrown8js/woody2_zps573b3627.jpg Notice the foot-activated brake for the rear wheel... http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae256/pbrown8js/woody2brake_zps341b2f53.jpg And here is the Recumbent Bicycle Enthusiasts club of North Phillipines (RBENP) http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae256/pbrown8js/bents3_zpsdd0c46eb.jpg Of course, it raises the whole "steel is real" issue -- what tree is the best for bicycle building, Coconut Tree, Mango Tree, Kawayan or Bamboo, Narra, Mahogany, Ipil-Ipil, or Molave??? Mahogany is Marvelous, Bamboo is Boss... :D |
