Title: GoPro Working
Post by Action Lad on Aug 30th, 2012, 11:54pm

Found out that the file can be uploaded straight to YouTube w/o editing.  Just makes sense anyway.  Here is one of the testing rides at WRL just a couple of days ago:

About 33:13 I lift the right wheel on the turn after the spillway bridge.  I love doing that!  [smiley=smiley.gif]

Nice video, Key. Wish I had a faster connection, so I could have viewed it without all that buffering. Basic DSL sucks.

Nice smooth video Key.  Say, what crank length do you run on the 700?  They 'look' short in the video.

I'm pretty sure Key's are the standard 165s that come on the 700.

Being a single guy, I need RECEPTION, so that is why I have something faster.  Also, I am working, so some of the things I do require speed.
The great thing about the GoPro camera is that video is very steady, where the Sony is shaky.  It's not a real sports camera anyway, but the best thing out there four years ago.  The not so great thing about the camera is that its housing amplifies the sounds coming up through the trike's frame.  That's where all the noise is from.  I used the included helmet mount, but it makes the helmet heavier than my taste, though it's nice and quiet.  A YouTube triker buddy of mine uses cotton in the housing to muffle the sound.  I'll try that on the ride today, the Duane Evans Memorial route.

Have a happy Labor Day!
...oh that's right, every day is Labor Day for you.   [smiley=angry.gif]

Thanks, Vicky.  Just about everything on the 700 is stock, except some parts of the drivetrain that wear out.  The cranks are the 165s that come with the trike.  The appearance of shorter cranks is a function of the fish eye lens of the GoPro's housing.  It scrunches everything to get more into the field, so stuff gets distorted.  It's nice for commuting, the main reason I have the camera, because much more is included than the Sony I was using, so I can handle a little weirdness.  In fact, I am this close to getting another camera to face the other way.  So much gets missed.
