Title: back in the saddle after 2nd hip
Post by esbee on Jun 30th, 2012, 5:38pm

Yeeehaw!!! I got back on my trike yesterday with the help of the physical therapist

i rode for a few minutes [smiley=grin.gif]

It was easier than than the first time back after the first hip surgery
I got on again today by myself and went for maybe 1/3 mile.

I put a question on the technical part...my parking brake does not work on my sun ez trike
it did work then quit a few months back.  Now i need my trike to stay still while i get my leg over carfully
it does not push down at all.
any ideas what may be wrong with it.
thanks

Congratulations, Susan!
Cycling, next to being with the Lord, Himself every morning, is the closest thing I know to freedom/flying/decompression/Rx injection.

Regarding the brake, my guess is cable has frozen in the housing.  If the vehicle is only used in dry conditions, and especially if it's in constant use, no problems.  Even if you use it in the wet, as I did all last year, if it's in constant use, no problems.  (Though it is good to try to blow as much of the moisture out as possible.)  But even atmospheric moisture over time, with inactivity, can freeze up those lines.  Same thing in your cable-actuated automobile brake lines.
Just my thoughts.

Good on ya for your return to freedom!

it is good to see other christians on this site! thanks for your testimony.  I love my trike riding but hope to get back in a real saddle on a real horse!

we got the brake thingy  fixed---my brother from calif who came out to help with my rehab prayed for guidance and figured out by looking at the other trike with the same handlebar set up that it was the cable in the way...he adjusted it and it now works fine- I got out for another short ride and got 1/2 mile in.
thanks for the help
